Dorian Jones Dorian Jones 6'2" | PG Parkville | 2022 State MD | Parkville ’22
Dorian ’Nick’ Jones has been incredible for Parkville all season. After transferring in this fall, the 6-foot-2 guard didn’t take long to build a reputation as an electrifying scorer who plays above the rim with regularity. Jones continued his streak last night as he finished with 31 points on 13-of-19 from the field, which included 2-of-4 from three. He was impossible to contain in the open floor and finished multiple dunks that forced the crowd to their feet. Jones was also making plays for others as he dished out four assists, secured four rebounds and tallied three steals.
Chimdy Onoh | Dundalk ’23
Onoh was a force in the paint for the Owls. The 6-foot-6 standout football player translates his physicality to the hardwood and feasted on the offensive glass. Once he hauled in the board, there was no stopping him from going back up and scoring strong lay ups. Onoh scored a game-high 32 points and what I loved most was no matter what the scoreboard read, it didn’t alter his effort at either end. There weren’t any extended stats being recorded for Dundalk, but he easily finished with 15+ rebounds on the night.
Caron Smith | Parkville ’23
Smith is making a name for himself in the local 2023 class as one of the top shot-makers, especially from three. He finished with 28 points on the night, 15 of which came from deep. He was a perfect 6-for-6 from mid-range and in, as a lot of his looks came in transition where he finished crafty lay ups to avoid the extended arms of contested defenders. Smith also made smart advance passes in transition to help his team get some easy looks at the rim and gain momentum for the game.
Marcus Nicholson | Dundalk ’22
Nicholson has been the consistent scoring threat for the Owls this season and continued at a steady pace last night as he finished with 19. The 6-foot-1 combo guard has a smooth off the dribble approach being left-handed certainly adds to his finishes aesthetically. He had a handful of nice sweep-throughs from the wing where he’d attack baseline and quickly sneak the ball off the backboard for scores before the weakside rotating defender could alter his attempt. Nicholson also made some sound decisions as a distributor in space.
Sincere Barfield Sincere Barfield 5'11" | PG Patterson | 2024 State MD | Parkville ’24
There simply aren’t many players locally who are more fun to watch than Barfield. His vibe and energy overall on both ends just make the game a joy. When you also consider just how skilled and competitive he is, there’s plenty of reason to believe he’ll be playing at the Division I level after his senior season. Barfield sported a loaded stat line of 21 points, eight assists, five rebounds and five steals. It’s a clear indication on the impact Barfield can have on a game at both ends. He’s a menacing defender who is constantly poking at the ball and when he’s in the passing lane he has great anticipation for deflections that result in runout opportunities for his team. The 5-foot-11 lead guard connected on 3-of-4 from deep, which was good to see considering his outside shooting is still the one part of his game that will need polish going forward, especially for his position, but there seems to be clear improvement this season,
