County tournaments are right around the corner, which is always an exciting time for Garden State basketball. The GMC tournament is set to be entertaining with multiple prospects set to break out. Here are the GMC Tournament breakout prospects to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id="1381147" first="Samar" last="Abdullah"], 5’10 PG St. Thomas Aquinas 2022

Abdullah has been a key part of the Trojans’ success this season and is looking to continue his strong play in the county tournament. The 5’10 guard has a lightning quick release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Abdullah is more than just a shooter as he has a nice handle and can finish around the rim. He moves well off the ball and slides his feet on the defensive end. Abdullah is a hard-working guard prospect who could have big games for the defending GMC Tournament champs.

Josh Ingram, 6’3 SG St. Joe’s Metuchen 2023

Ingram has had a solid season for the Falcons on the perimeter and it should continue in the county tournament. The 6’3 guard has a smooth shooting stroke and can knock down jumpers in bunches. Ingram can also score in the mid-range and is a good finisher around the basket. He is an underrated defender and is a good rebounder for a guard. Ingram is a scoring wing prospect who is a player to watch in the GMC Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id="1013098" first="Noah" last="Taylor"], 6’4 SF/PF Colonia 2023

Taylor is due for a breakout county tournament as the Patriots look to make a deep run. The 6’4 forward has a strong frame which he uses to get position down low and is capable of finishing through contact. Taylor has a nice touch on his free throws and is capable of knocking down open jumpers on the perimeter. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and moves his feet on the defensive end. Taylor is a physical forward prospect who should live on the glass throughout the GMC Tournament.

Jon Okocha, 6’5 SF Monroe 2022

The Okocha triplets have powered Monroe’s attack this season with Jon leading the way. The 6’5 wing does not get sped up in the halfcourt as he knows to get to his spot and shoots over smaller defenders. Okocha is a good finisher around the basket, but can also step behind the arc and knock down triples. He is a solid rebounder and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Monroe is looking to make some noise during the GMC Tournament and the Okocha triplets will be the reason they will.

[player_tooltip player_id="1025373" first="Yathin" last="Vemula"], 6’0 PG South Brunswick 2022

The Vikings lost to St. Thomas Aquinas in the 2020 GMC Tournament final and Vemula is looking to lead them back. The 6’0 floor general plays with composure and is unafraid of taking the big shot. Vemula has a good shooting stroke and does not need a lot of space to get his shot off. He is a good on-ball defender and rarely forces the issue in the half court. Vemula is a heady floor general prospect who should come up clutch in big moments for South Brunswick in the GMC Tournament.

Other Prospects to Watch:

Nicholas Barnes, 6’4 CG Edison 2022

Anthony Nigro, 6’2 SG South Plainfield 2022

Jalen Fleming, 6’2 SG Timothy Christian 2025

[player_tooltip player_id="1269811" first="Jalen" last="Thomas"], 6’5 SF/PF Piscataway 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="1269717" first="Lazaro" last="Rodriguez"], 6’4 SF South River
