The District Tournament starts this week and below we discuss some matchup/players to watch in the Palm Beach and Treasure Coast area. It has been a great season thus far and this should be an exciting week ahead. Below we take a deeper dive into 2A District 13, 3A District 11 and 6A District 13:

2A District 13:

There are a ton of great shooters in this district so I expect some three point shootouts and high scoring games. The Berean Christian (#3) vs Atlantic Christian (#2) matchup looks like the best matchup before the district championship and on the other side of the bracket it looks like Morningside should be the favorite to advance. Morningside Academy finished the season with an 18-3 record and hold the #1 seed 4 out of their 5 starters average double figures in points and all 3 of their guards Damon Leigh, [player_tooltip player_id="1295936" first="Damon" last="Folds"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1310899" first="Darious" last="Moore"] all average over 50% on three pointers. Their 2 bigs Caden Holland and [player_tooltip player_id="1161421" first="Mitchely" last="Kercy"] get it done on both ends of the court and provide solid rebounding for the Eagles.

Top Players to watch- Damon Leigh (Morningside) [player_tooltip player_id="1161421" first="Mitchely" last="Kercy"] ( Morningside ) [player_tooltip player_id="1149971" first="Nathaniel" last="Barrow"] (Berean Christian) Dylan Redmon ( St Edwards )

Rising Stars - [player_tooltip player_id="1310899" first="Darious" last="Moore"] (Morningside) [player_tooltip player_id="1295936" first="Damon" last="Folds"] ( Morningside) [player_tooltip player_id="1055738" first="Shiv" last="Patel"] (Pine School)

Scout Prediction - Morningside

3A District 11:

Benjamin holds the #1 seed after finishing their season 13-6 and I expect them to cruise through their bracket on their way to playing in the district championship. Benjamin is led by 2023 standout [player_tooltip player_id="962596" first="Gavin" last="Aydelotte"] who is 6’11 and averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds per game thus far this season. Jupiter Christian (#2) versus John Carroll (#3) should be a great matchup between 2 teams that have had great seasons. John Carroll is coming of a 22-3 season one of the best in school history and Jupiter Christian has battled through some injuries to key players but still finished 13-6. Benjamin beat Jupiter Christian by 10 a few weeks ago I am sure they want their rematch but will have to get by a tough John Carroll squad to get there. John Carroll is led by 2023 dual sport standout [player_tooltip player_id="962575" first="Aidan" last="Singleton"] who is a shifty guard that can get to the rim with ease and is always in attack mode. Aidan is a tough defender that requires the other team to put their best defender on him. This Jupiter Christian John Carroll matchup should be a fun one to watch!

Top Players to watch- [player_tooltip player_id="962596" first="Gavin" last="Aydelotte"] ( Benjamin ) [player_tooltip player_id="962502" first="Darrell" last="Sweeting"] ( Benjamin ) Machli Fleurissaint ( Jupiter Christian ) [player_tooltip player_id="829516" first="Tareeq" last="Anderson"] ( Jupiter Christian ) [player_tooltip player_id="1060227" first="Matthew" last="James"] ( Jupiter Christian ) [player_tooltip player_id="962575" first="Aidan" last="Singleton"] ( John Carroll ) [player_tooltip player_id="962576" first="Wilky" last="Denaud"] ( John Carroll ) Iziah George ( Somerset ) Jordan Price ( Inlet Grove )

Rising Stars - [player_tooltip player_id="1306092" first="Tony" last="Colebrook"] ( John Carroll ) Aaron McFarlane ( John Carroll ) Alex McFarlane ( John Carroll ) Sanjae Moncrieffe ( Benjamin ) Tajiri Green ( Jupiter Christian ) Conner Hofman ( Jupiter Christian ) [player_tooltip player_id="812625" first="Jermaine" last="Hunter"] ( Jupiter Christian )

Scout Prediction - Benjamin

6A District 13:

Dwyer has the #1 seed and looks destined for a district championship game against Martin County in this tournament. Dwyer finished the season 19-2 and will be a very tough out as they begin their road to Lakeland. The team is led by standout 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="962569" first="Kyle" last="McNeal"] who is one of the best dual sport athletes in all of South Florida. Martin County enters districts battling injuries to key players it will be interesting to see who steps up for the Tigers during the tournament. Dwyer beat Martin County back on 1/26 74-69 the rematch should be just as good if not better than the regular season game.

Top Players to watch- [player_tooltip player_id="962569" first="Kyle" last="McNeal"] ( Dwyer ) Blake Wilson ( Dwyer ) [player_tooltip player_id="1161408" first="Juwan" last="Dawes"] ( Dwyer ) [player_tooltip player_id="829398" first="Ryan" last="Davis"] ( Martin County ) [player_tooltip player_id="1065497" first="Braydin" last="Samuels"] ( Martin County ) [player_tooltip player_id="829421" first="Caleb" last="Mackrey"] ( Olympic Heights ) Kyle Dzarnowski ( Olympic Heights ) [player_tooltip player_id="1164269" first="Noah" last="Josie"] ( South Fork )

Rising Stars - Nick Chang ( South Fork ) [player_tooltip player_id="1310889" first="Cam" last="Insalaco"] ( Martin County ) Xanai Scott ( Dwyer )
