Chester, SD - The Flyers are in Class B Region 4 and they are members of the Big East Conference. The Flyers do not have a ton of height, but they have been improving throughout the season and they play with heart. From the looks of things, Chester is capable of getting hot and making a run when it comes to postseason play. Good luck to the Flyers!

Flyer talk with coach Adam Gale

What has been the highlight of the season so far?

"The highlight of our season so far has been staying competitive throughout our Big East Conference schedule, defeating McM twice as well as the likes of Beresford, Baltic and non-conference class A opponent Tri-Valley early in the year. In the conference tournament, we finished 4th."
What are your goals for the rest of the season?

"Early in the season, we struggled to score which held us back from winning games despite defending hard. However, we have seen offensive improvements and our goal is to continue to improve on offense while maintaining our team defensive philosophies. We have 4 regular-season games left and the entire month of January we have seen improvements on both sides of the ball, we want to keep trending in the right direction regardless of our record so we are playing our best heading into regional tournament play."

Which Flyers are most improved and why?

"Brock Wages is an undersized post who has been consistent in getting into double figures scoring for us. He is averaging 8 points a game through 14 and has steadily improved on offense. In addition, [player_tooltip player_id="1315310" first="Jovi" last="Wolf"] comes off the bench and gives us a spark of offense and athleticism. He is also averaging 8 points per game and his outside shot and mid-range game have improved immensely from last year where he was strictly a slasher at the rim type scorer."

Who have been your top players defensively?

"[player_tooltip player_id="968170" first="Stratton" last="Eppard"] is our top defender and always guards the team’s best player regardless of size or speed. Ryan Benson is also a versatile defender we rely on. If Stratton is on a post, Ryan will always take the best guard. Despite his more lean and lengthy stature, Ryan is fearless and also guards forwards in the ½ court for us. Stratton is averaging 7.5 rebounds per game and Ryan is bringing down 6 per game. Although they’re not the sole reason we defend so well as a team, they are an integral part of our team strategy.

What do the Flyers hang their hat on?

"We hang our hat on our TEAM defense. We defend as a team despite typically not having a player above 6’1 on the floor. We are a gritty defensive team that will make you work for baskets. So far this year out of 16 games we have only given up 55+ points 5 times, and two of those were to ranked class A teams in Sioux Valley and Flandreau."
