2024 Rankings: New Guards Added

<p>The 2024 class has been extremely impactful this season across the state of Kansas. The guard list that was added and the next class up are loaded, versatile, and getting better as the season progresses. Let’s take a look at the new guards added to list.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">#7 [player_tooltip player_id="1378439" first="Zaxton" last="King"], 6’2 shooting guard, 2024, Lawrence: The Lawrence guard has come on to the big scene and announced that he is here. Coming in the top 10 at #7, continue to watch King soar up this list and make his way into the top 3 much sooner rather than later. King is the real deal in the back court and overall, is one of the best guards in Kansas. Averaging 20 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 2.1 steals per game while shooting 45% from the field. He is electric with the ball in his hands, can get a ton of shots off, is big time at the rim with a variety of finishes, has made a ton of clutch plays in his early career. It ain't a bold prediction to say he will enter the Top 3 by July.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">#15 [player_tooltip player_id="1371482" first="Brennon" last="Dodge"], 6’1 combo guard, 2024, Shawnee Heights: Can flat out shoot the basketball and has been scoring it at a 22 point per game clip. Moves really well without the ball in his hands, gets to open areas to knock down shots, and comes off a ton of screens to get looks during games. As a sophomore, his ability to read and come off screens and get shot ready bodes really well for his future. Shooting over 40% from 3 this season. 16 of his 34 made shots this year are from 3.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">#20 [player_tooltip player_id="1378440" first="Micah" last="Deaver"], 6’1 combo guard, 2024, Olathe East: A big time playmaker helping lead the back court for a young and up and coming Olathe East team. Deaver has great size and athleticism on the perimeter and his court vision is top notch. He is a stat sheet stuffer at 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. Has struggled from the field but is shooting over 80% from the foul line.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">#32 [player_tooltip player_id="1378443" first="Wyatt" last="Lewis"], 6-1 combo guard, 2024, Aquinas: Averaging about 6 points per game, Lewis has solidified his role as a solid role player and option behind Rost and Gavin. Averages Close to 2 assists and steals per game. Lewis is poised to finish strong down the stretch and produce at high levels as his role grows throughout his career.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">#33 [player_tooltip player_id="1378444" first="Landon" last="McPhail"], 5-foot-11 combo guard, 2024, Ashland: Getting his opportunity early at the small school of Ashland, McPhail has taken his role in stride and has been producing at a nice rate. A solid shooter from 3 at a 45% clip, and plays off the dribble well to compliment that. Brings some toughness as well from the back court and mixes it up on the glass averaging over 7 rebounds per game.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">#36 [player_tooltip player_id="1378447" first="Marcus" last="Bauman"], 6-foot combo guard, 2024, Sabetha (Pictured): A guard with great size and strength with a cannon from distance. great at relocating on the perimeter, finding open areas against zone, and is shot ready. Shoots it at 43% from 3 on the season. Has a nice little pull up game off the shot fake as well. Just a solid and steady contributor game in and game out.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">#37 [player_tooltip player_id="1378448" first="Emmett" last="Gaskill"], 6-foot-3 shooting guard, 2024, Hugoton: The ultimate utility man and role guy for a Hugoton team who is getting hot at the right time. Gaskill plays with tremendous energy and the will to compete which allows him to always be on the floor and being productive. Sitting at roughly 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game for the 12-3 Eagles.</p>
