PH has updated the rankings in the class of 2023. There’s been a lot of movement both ways. With the lifting of the restrictions we were able to get out to different parts of NorCal and evaluate more prospects, some we hadn’t seen a lot, but new they were good prospects worthy of higher ranking. Here’s our list of the top stock risers in this class.

[player_tooltip player_id="1232327" first="Andrej" last="Stojakovic"] 6’7 Basketball Player of Jesuit.

It’s hard to stick a position to Stojakovic, because of his evolving skill set. He’s been a productive basketball player when on the court. He has the talent to take his game to the next level. The long wiry prospect can score in all the traditional ways of a wing or guard. He has the good handles, vision and passing of a guard. He understands the game, and what he can do on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="950919" first="Jermaine" last="Haliburton"] 6’2 PG of Inderkum.

A rising point guard in this class. He has a good set of skills to take his game to the next level. He’s a bit of a combo guard right now producing at either spot. He can play fast or slow with good pace, and balance. He has the vision and passing skills, along with shot making abilities. His mid-range jump shot is consistent, he can hit the 3. He has the foot speed to defend on ball, and stay in front of his man in full court. He scored 30pts when PH saw him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255841" first="Leroy" last="Bryant"] 6’1 PG of Rodriquez.

Bryant is an athletic point guard with the tools and body to play at the next level. He’s a patient guard with playmaking skills who can run a teams offense. He can handle any kind of physical play on both ends. He has a mid-range jump shot and can hit the 3. He pushes fast and is in control with good passing up the court. He can play fast or slow. He’s a top notch on ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1116236" first="Jayden" last="Teat"] 6’2 CG of Jesuit.

Teat has speed and good vision pushing the ball in transition. He’s shown improvement, and patience running point in half court sets. He lights up when playing off the ball and looking to be a scorer, coming off screens, and in transition. He has a shot he can make at the mid-range all the way out to the 3pt line.

[player_tooltip player_id="950894" first="Jordan" last="Bobo"] 6’7 SF/PF of Grant.

Bobo has the size and potential to be a next level prospect with continued development. At 6’7 he has shown he can operate on the perimeter with some success. His stock rises when he shows he can operate in the post area, where he uses his size and strength to rebound and score inside. He can defend and change shots in the post.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255641" first="Leon" last="Mills"] 6’2 PG of Edison, Stockton.

Mills is best when he’s in a fast paced game going up and down the court using his speed and handles to go by defenders to score. His quickness and handles in half court allows him to fearlessly attack post defenders in the paint, using strong drives, paint jumpers, and floaters to finish. His quick hands on defense generates turnovers and layups. He led the team in scoring 17pts, 4.7asts, 3.5stls.

Aiden Curry 6’3 F, of Santa Cruz.

This was a breakout season for Curry. He’s helped lead Santa Cruz to a 20-5, 9-1 record this season with his production. He’s improved his game across the board. He’s the teams leading scorer and rebounder. He’s a physical player with an improving outside perimeter game. He’s most effective when he’s working in and around the post area. At 6’3 with a solid body he’s been hard to deal with in the paint. He can hit the 10 to 12ft jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id="951932" first="Cody" last="Smith"] 6’8 F/PF of Liberty Ranch

Smith has been a key piece for Liberty Ranch 24-5, 10-0. He’s the man in the middle with good activity on both sides of the ball. He’s averaging 14.9pts, and 7.7rebs. The two sport athlete (football) has good fundamentals and scores most of his points in the post. He’s a good court runner, has post presence. He has strong finishes in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="1129848" first="Malik" last="Smith"] 6’0 g of Oakland Tech

Smith has made a big jump in his production on the court. He’s a settled player with confidence in what he’s doing. He’s a strong body who plays under control and uses it when he’s working his way into the paint. His mid-range game is improved, his handles allow him to attack from different areas on the court. 12.3pts per game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255642" first="Emerson" last="Jones"] 6’6 W/F of Salesian Prep

Emerson a long wiry prospect is stronger than he looks. He gives good effort when he’s on the court. He has the length and is active in the paint. He goes after rebounds, and blocks. At 6’6 he has footspeed, length, and good intensity to defend in the open court. His length is a plus in trapping situations. He’ll get up the court fast in transition. He’ll finish strong, and above the rim.
