It’s no surprise that a lot of the best players in each class ranking come from big schools. There are so many quality players in KC, Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence and in 6A and 5A programs across the state.

But the 2023 class features some really nice 1A and 2A players who belong on this list, including some near the top.

[player_tooltip player_id="1080178" first="Britton" last="Dutton"] (#19) and [player_tooltip player_id="1080187" first="Brekyn" last="Ratzlaff"] (#24) play so well during the summer that they have established themselves among the top 25 in the class.

Here are some of the best in the 2023 Rankings from 1A and 2A classifications:

The Gorillas hope to make some noise in 1A, and have some nice pieces to work with. They have four players averaging double figures in scoring, with lightning-quick Hastings leading the way with 17.7 points per game. His 3.6 assists and 2.4 steals demonstrate he makes a lot of plays. He can score from all three levels and has a ton of varsity experience.

Lafferty is doing his best to help Little River overcome graduation losses. He turned in 14 points in recent win over Solomon. On the season, he’s averaging 13.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 steals, a solid producer across the board.

68 [player_tooltip player_id="1212165" first="Alec" last="Carlson"], 6-foot-1 guard, 2023, Pawnee Heights:

The Tigers haven’t gotten the results they wanted this season, but they are getting a lot of production from Carlson. The junior is racking up 21.5 points while dishing out 2.5 assists per game. He gets it done at the defensive end, ripping off 4.7 steals per contest.

69 [player_tooltip player_id="1212166" first="Jett" last="Vincent"], 6-foot guard, 2023, Wheatland-Grinnell:

This year, he’s socring 15.8 points and grabbing 9.3 rebounds for the 10th ranked 1A Div. II Thunderhawks.

70 [player_tooltip player_id="1212167" first="Jordy" last="Dolloff"], 5-foot-10 guard, 2023, Wichita Classical:

The Saints have a few nice wins over teams like Waverly and Solomon – enough to climb to 8th in the statewide 1A Div. I rankings. With a much more balanced team around him, Dolloff is leading the way by dishing out 4.7 assists, while still scoring 13.3 points per game.
