Week 10 Rankings Update
After an upset-filled weekend, it’s time to update the team rankings across all four classes. There was a lot of movement, particularly in Class 3A, this week, and we detail some of the major moves below.
In Class 1A, there’s not much movement this week. The top five teams remain the same, with Grand View Christian (19-0) pacing the class, followed by AHSTW (17-0), St. Mary’s, Remsen (16-0), North Linn (16-1), and Lake Mills (17-0). The lone movement comes with Newman Catholic (15-1) and Gladbrook-Reinbeck (16-1) flipping spots at #6 and 7, and New London (14-1) and Danville (15-2) flipping spots in #9 and 10.
Defending champion Western Christian (15-1) moves to the top of the heap in Class 2A following Aplington-Parkersburg’s (13-2) upset loss to Wapsie Valley. The Falcons fell to #4 as a result of that loss. Des Moines Christian (15-2) enters the rankings at #7 following the Lions big week that included a win over Pella Christian (12-4), who fell to #8, one spot behind DMC. Monticello (16-1) and Camanche (14-3) each took losses to quality teams from Illinois and remain in the rankings at #9 and #10, respectively.
In Class 3A, no team remains in the same spot as they were last week. Fort Madison (15-0) takes over the top spot, the lone undefeated team remaining in the class. The Bloodhounds are followed by Decorah (15-1), Marion (14-3), Washington (14-2), and Humboldt (14-1). Last week’s #1 team, Dallas Center-Grimes (11-4), falls down to #7 following a blowout loss to Indianola and a stunning upset loss to Boone. Ballard (13-4) re-enters the rankings at #9 this week after being out for a handful of weeks.
Ames (12-1) remains the top-ranked team in Class 4A, followed by Pleasant Valley (15-0), Ankeny (12-2), and Kennedy (12-2), who each moved up a spot following Ankeny’s win over Waukee Northwest (12-3). Northwest fell from #2 to #5 as a result of that loss. Valley (12-3) re-enters the rankings this week at #8 following their win over Johnston.
