In Louisiana, there is a wealth of unsigned seniors talent. Even with the wealth of talent, only four of the players have committed/signed to play on the next level. In that same vein, there have been a ton of unsigned seniors who have seen their stock rise during holiday and district play. In this PHLA exclusive, we will look at twenty seniors who have seen their stock risen. These preps should be in the discussion for next level schools because of the growth in their level of play.

[player_tooltip player_id="932853" first="Gerald" last="Abbott"]

When Abbott got struck in the nose early in their district opener and kept playing, I knew he was a little different. Abbott has length to go with his 6’5" frame. He can switch and defend perimeter guys, he can rebound, and score in the paint. Abbott is really a multi-faceted player.

[player_tooltip player_id="981603" first="Willie" last="Anderson"]

Outside of his first half against Duncanville, Anderson has played high level basketball at the point. He is an athletic distributor who does not mind taking the rock amongst the trees. Anderson can finish above the rim or through contact and is a better outside shooter than given credit. He has definitely opened some eyes this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1275274" first="Jalen" last="Bolden"]

Before it is all said and done, Bolden may end up being a college point guard. Right now, he is one of the best wings playing in any classification in Louisiana. I know he is already a top ten player but anyone who can constantly put pressure on defenses with his driving ability, shoot it from deep, and defend multiple positions, his stock is definitely rising.

[player_tooltip player_id="1275319" first="Alex" last="Broussard"]

A sneaky athletic guard who can dunk on you if he has the space, Broussard can do multiple things on the floor. He can drive and elevate over defenders for short jumpers and shoot the three. Broussard is good defensively also which makes him valuable on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1051638" first="Troy" last="Cole"]

Cole is one of the best two-way players we have in the Boot. He is a legit 6’4" with plenty of length which he uses defensively. The scary part is he has not reached his full offensive potential. He may have enough offense to take his team to Marsh Madness though.

[player_tooltip player_id="1271043" first="Davion" last="Coleman"]

Coleman may make his last year at Shreve his best year. Coleman is a match-up nightmare for teams because of his height and ball skills. His ability to score at all three levels at 6’5" makes him a really tough cover.

[player_tooltip player_id="981495" first="Jordan" last="Crawford"]

During the championship game last season, Crawford was Simsboro’s best post defender. Fast forward to 21-22 and Crawford has been their best option at the point. He worked his tail off all summer to be a better distributor and scorer from the point while maintaining his defensive prowess. Needless to say, he is doing a great job at both.

[player_tooltip player_id="781841" first="Dakota" last="Gasca"]

Gasca has always been a guard who could fill it up from deep. Now, he has added point guard duties to his body of work and he is performing just fine. His improved ability to get into the paint coupled with his shooting ability has made him a force on the offensive end for West Monroe.

[player_tooltip player_id="1275313" first="Zaren" last="James"]

James already had to the skill to score in the paint. In the preseason, he showed that he could handle the rock and be an outside threat as well. At his size, James is a player who can cause fits for opposing defenses. He is winning his matchup most nights.

[player_tooltip player_id="932848" first="Marquarius" last="Johnson"]

While the Cowboy success requires him to be a volume shooter/scorer, Johnson is best when he does a little of both. When he passes first and gets his going later, the Cowboys have played better. He is evolving into a scorer who can pass which is a dangerous combination.

[player_tooltip player_id="1275271" first="Noah" last="Jonker"]

The best pick and pop player off ball screens we have in Louisiana. Besides being excellent at this skill, he has improved at taking players off the dribble and exploiting mismatches on the floor. Jonker is as smart as he is lethal in scoring. Teams have to stop him if they want to beat ASH.

[player_tooltip player_id="781844" first="Nicholas" last="Kaigler"]

Kaigler has developed into one of the better scoring guards that we have in Louisiana. His ability to score on the block as well as the perimeter is a lost art in today’s game. Kaigler may indeed be the most valuable player on a McMain team looking to defend their 4A championship.

[player_tooltip player_id="1270246" first="Takeviuntae" last="Kidd"]

Kidd has transitioned from the gridiron to the hardwood without seeming tired at all. He is a lefty who can drive right and score with either hand. His improved shooting has also made him a threat from multiple levels of the floor. Other 1A schools may hope he cools off at some point soon.

[player_tooltip player_id="1270245" first="D’Anthony" last="Kimble"]

A lot of people will not see him play because he plays at Homer. However, Kimble can flat out get it done on offense. He can penetrate to pass or score. Because he has gained much more confidence in his jumper, it has opened up his game. Add the fact that he is an above average rebounder and you are talking about a highly skilled player.

[player_tooltip player_id="1180576" first="Andri" last="Lewis"]

Lewis has taken the Woodlawn Knight point guard duties and run with them. Teams have had trouble stopping him from occupying the paint. He is excellent at scoring from the block and rebound putbacks. Lewis is built like a tank also. He is a top tier two-way player.

[player_tooltip player_id="1275290" first="Patrick" last="Mccraney"]

McCraney came into his school as a shooter and may end up being a better point guard when he finishes. He has steadily improved his draw and kick game while maintaining his shooting ability. He has grown as an on ball defender which puts him in elite company in this state.

[player_tooltip player_id="1128492" first="D’evin" last="McDonald"]

McDonald has always been a high level defender. He now has an abundance of confidence scoring the rock and has had high scoring games against some of Louisiana’s better teams. With his consistency on both sides of the ball, his stock is beginning to grow higher and higher.

[player_tooltip player_id="781849" first="Rayshun" last="McCullar"]

McCullar did not have a great 20-21. Along with some off-the-court issues, his summer was no better. However, when the ball began to bounce this season, he has reminded us all of why he was a top ten talent. McCullar can score at all three levels and takes defensive challenges. He is playing himself back into the best point guard convo.

[player_tooltip player_id="1275272" first="Jacob" last="Wilson"]

This season, Wilson has shown growth in his game. He is definitely pushing to be a top five recruit because he can defend, shoot, and pass. Guard skills at 6’5" are hard to come by in this state at times. Well, he definitely has them and may just bring his team a championship with them.

[player_tooltip player_id="932859" first="Christian" last="Yates"]

After sitting a year from a transfer, Yates has helped Green Oaks become a playoff contender in 3A. His ability to make the corner three along with his passing ability makes him a terror to guard. Yates may just finish his high school career on a good note.

There are other players who have had good seasons who should be on college radars as well. [player_tooltip player_id="1275268" first="John-Paul" last="Ricks"] has only added to his high school legend scoring 34 ppg and [player_tooltip player_id="781856" first="Reginald" last="Stoner"] has been nothing short of stellar from the preseason on. The players above have opened up the eyes of people not just in their regions, but other parts of Louisiana. This is why I think they will be some of the highest stock risers when the newest 2022 rankings appear next month.

In Louisiana, there is a wealth of unsigned seniors talent. Even with the wealth of talent, only four of the players have committed/signed to play on the next level. In this PHLA exclusive, we will look at twenty seniors who have seen their stock risen. These preps should be in the discussion for next level schools because of the growth in their level of play.

Gerald Abbott Gerald Abbott 6'5" | PF Captain Shreve | 2022 State LA

When Abbott got struck in the nose early in their district opener and kept playing, I knew he was a little different. Abbott has length to go with his 6’5" frame. He can switch and defend perimeter guys, he can rebound, and score in the paint. Abbott is really a multi-faceted player.

Willie Anderson Willie Anderson 6'2" | CG G.W. Carver | 2022 State LA

Outside of his first half against Duncanville, Anderson has played high level basketball at the point. He is an athletic distributor who does not mind taking the rock amongst the trees. Anderson can finish above the rim or through contact and is a better outside shooter than given credit. He has definitely opened some eyes this season.

Jalen Bolden

Before it is all said and done, Bolden may end up being a college point guard. Right now, he is one of the best wings playing in any classification in Louisiana. I know he is already a top ten player but anyone who can constantly put pressure on defenses with his driving ability, shoot it from deep, and defend multiple positions, his stock is definitely rising.

Alex Broussard

A sneaky athletic guard who can dunk on you if he has the space, Broussard can do multiple things on the floor. He can drive and elevate over defenders for short jumpers and shoot the three. Broussard is good defensively also which makes him valuable on both ends of the floor.

Troy Cole Troy Cole Troy Cole 6'5" | SG Donaldsonville | 2022 State LA

Jordan Crawford Jordan Crawford Jordan Crawford 6'2" | CG Simsboro | 2022 State LA

Dakota Gasca Dakota Gasca Dakota Gasca 5'9" | CG West Monroe | 2022 State LA

Gasca has always been a guard who could fill it up from deep. Now, he has added point guard duties to his body of work and he is performing just fine. His improved ability to get into the paint coupled with his shooting ability has made him a force on the offensive end for West Monroe.

Zaren James

James already had to the skill to score in the paint. In the preseason, he showed that he could handle the rock and be an outside threat as well. At his size, James is a player who can cause fits for opposing defenses. He is winning his matchup most nights.

Marquarius Johnson Marquarius Johnson Marquarius Johnson 6'1" | CG Southwood | 2022 State LA

While the Cowboy success requires him to be a volume shooter/scorer, Johnson is best when he does a little of both. When he passes first and gets his going later, the Cowboys have played better. He is evolving into a scorer who can pass which is a dangerous combination.

Noah Jonker

The best pick and pop player off ball screens we have in Louisiana. Besides being excellent at this skill, he has improved at taking players off the dribble and exploiting mismatches on the floor. Jonker is as smart as he is lethal in scoring. Teams have to stop him if they want to beat ASH.

Nicholas Kaigler Nicholas Kaigler 6'3" | SG McMain | 2022 State LA

Kaigler has developed into one of the better scoring guards that we have in Louisiana. His ability to score on the block as well as the perimeter is a lost art in today’s game. Kaigler may indeed be the most valuable player on a McMain team looking to defend their 4A championship.

Takeviuntae Kidd Takeviuntae Kidd 5'11" | PG Homer | 2022 State LA

Kidd has transitioned from the gridiron to the hardwood without seeming tired at all. He is a lefty who can drive right and score with either hand. His improved shooting has also made him a threat from multiple levels of the floor. Other 1A schools may hope he cools off at some point soon.

Andri Lewis Andri Lewis Andri Lewis 6'3" | CG Woodlawn Leadership Academy | 2022 State LA

Lewis has taken the Woodlawn Knight point guard duties and run with them. Teams have had trouble stopping him from occupying the paint. He is excellent at scoring from the block and rebound putbacks. Lewis is built like a tank also. He is a top tier two-way player.

Patrick Mccraney

McCraney came into his school as a shooter and may end up being a better point guard when he finishes. He has steadily improved his draw and kick game while maintaining his shooting ability. He has grown as an on ball defender which puts him in elite company in this state.

D’evin McDonald D’evin McDonald D’evin McDonald 6'3" | CG Red River | 2022 State LA

McDonald has always been a high level defender. He now has an abundance of confidence scoring the rock and has had high scoring games against some of Louisiana’s better teams. With his consistency on both sides of the ball, his stock is beginning to grow higher and higher.

Rayshun McCullar Rayshun McCullar 6'1" | PG Huntington | 2022 State LA

McCullar did not have a great 20-21. Along with some off-the-court issues, his summer was no better. However, when the ball began to bounce this season, he has reminded us all of why he was a top ten talent. McCullar can score at all three levels and takes defensive challenges. He is playing himself back into the best point guard convo.

Jacob Wilson

This season, Wilson has shown growth in his game. He is definitely pushing to be a top five recruit because he can defend, shoot, and pass. Guard skills at 6’5" are hard to come by in this state at times. Well, he definitely has them and may just bring his team a championship with them.

Christian Yates Christian Yates 6'4" | SF Green Oaks | 2022 State LA

After sitting a year from a transfer, Yates has helped Green Oaks become a playoff contender in 3A. His ability to make the corner three along with his passing ability makes him a terror to guard. Yates may just finish his high school career on a good note.
