Joshua Whiteside Joshua Whiteside 6'7" | C Gahanna Lincoln | 2022 State OH , 6’7 C Gahanna 2022: Whiteside was super active and helped lead Gahanna to their most impressive victory of the season in this game. Whiteside can finish with both hands and has really improved his body since the summer. Whiteside will likely need to go JUCO or Prep before heading to the NCAA, but I think with another year of development, Division I programs will start to take notice of him. He’s starting to play the best basketball of his career and could be the key piece that sends Gahanna to the final four.
Braylin Wells Braylin Wells 6'7" | C Pickerington Central | 2024 State OH , 6’6 C Buchtel 2024: Wells is one of the more active rim protectors I can remember from an underclassman. Not afraid to contest any shot, Wells has been dunked on once or twice when I’ve watched, but he’s also had his fair share of blocks and rim contests as well. Wells is still developing as an offensive player, with some pretty raw post moves. There’s a lot to work with for Wells with his frame and activity around the basket.
Brandon McLaughlin Brandon McLaughlin 6'8" | C Heath | 2022 State OH , 6’8 C Heath 2022: McLaughlin is having a stellar senior season, breaking the Heath career scoring record and leading the Bulldogs to another great regular season record. McLaughlin stepped out and knocked down a couple mid-range jumpers and was money on his free-throws, showing a bit of an expansion to his usual game. If Heath wants to finally win a district title and make a deep playoff run, McLaughlin needs to continue this high level of play.
Atticus Schuler Atticus Schuler 6'6" | PF Desales | 2022 State OH , 6’6 PF Columbus DeSales 2022: Schuler has expanded his game each season I see him as he looks more confident with the ball in his hands on the perimeter. Schuler is a versatile forward who can get it done from the outside and down inside the paint. If Schuler can become a more consistent shooter, then he’ll be even tougher to defend on the outside. It’s interesting seeing Schuler be the primary offensive weapon for DeSales after seeing him play a complimentary role next to Des Watson the past couple seasons.
