This Week’s Standout Senior Wings

<p>Here is my list of some senior wings who have been putting on a show this season! Do not miss checking them out in person before they wrap up district play and gear up to make a run towards the state championship! </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="889575" first="Chancellor" last="White"] 2022 6’6 Foster High School</p> <p>Chancellor is a large combo guard who can really do it all on both ends of the floor. His athletic ability is perfectly paired with his ability to shake defenders with a live dribble, go coast to coast and finish on the break or lock up high level guards. He is great at working without the ball, and knows when to cut back door when his defender turns for a split second for a free dunk at the rim. He is also great at quickly getting his feet set underneath him and always have his hands ready to receive a pass. He even displayed some high level shot making off the dribble, especially when getting to his one to two dribble pull ups. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Tahaad Davis 2022 6’3 Seven Lakes High School</p> <p>Tahaad is a special combo guard/ wing who can create his own shot from any level of the floor. He has supreme athleticism that allows him to hang in the air and contort his body around defenders. It was very impressive to watch him wreak havoc at all three levels on the offensive end of the floor. He has a reliable shooting touch from beyond the arc, and specializes at spotting up on the wings. He even displayed some deep NBA range on a few three pointers. I loved watching him get downhill against smaller guards and being able to use his hang time to get around bigger defenders in the paint. </p> <p>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWX1RD_v1O8&amp;t=2s</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Aidan Patree 2022 6’3 McKinney North High School</p> <p>Aidan is an aggressive wing who thrives at doing all of the little things right. Whether it was cutting hard to the rim in the half-court, sliding over to protect the rim and leaping with forwards, or showing off his elite athleticism while doing all of the dirty work. Patree was one of my favorite players to watch, he displayed high basketball IQ on both ends of the floor, reading opponents’ passes and creating opportunities for his own teammates. He is a great back-side defender who has no fear at jumping for every block. He also has great hands who have a knack for tying up the ball and swatting away shots at the rim. I would like to see continued development with his shot off the bounce, but he has all the tools to be successful at the next level already.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Xavier Boisley 2022 6’2 Brennan High School</p> <p>Xavier is an intelligent wing who always seems to make the right reads and passes every time down the floor. He is a sniper from the corners and wings and is not afraid to shoot in transition. His ability to knock down three pointers and attack the basket really helped his team succeed. He is a good on ball defender and using his size and athleticism. to defend guards and wings. He is great at using his leaping ability to explode to the rim and finish with ease.</p> <p>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkR8sst0qs8&amp;list=PLhpX-Pzz1eYrI13v4fqk0dZxoU9A5PC5m&amp;index=7</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1295894" first="Jacob" last="Gaffney"] 2022 6’4 Montwood High School</p> <p>Jacob is a large sharp shooting wing with all of the tools to translate to the next level as a 3 and d type wing or guard. His length and quick foot speed allow him to guard positions 2-4 with ease. With a live dribble he showed an ability to break down defenders and even create opportunities for his teammates. He is a good mover without the basketball, consistently moving and cutting to put pressure on the defense. I would like to see him work on getting into the midrange more and adding more moves into his post-game.</p>
