Max Wagner was at the game providing the highlights and this morning we looked through the film for, The Rundown! (Video is linked at the bottom of the page).
1:20 mark of the video…. Payton Thomsen Payton Thomsen 6'2" | PG Spring Lake Park | 2022 State MN . Back from injury, Spring Lake Park leading scorer sizes up his man, attacks hard right, uses that off hand for leverage, and with no Roseville help stepping his way the Panther seniors gets a nice attacking score.
2:05 mark…. Logan Kinsey Logan Kinsey 6'6" | PF Spring Lake Park | 2022 State MN . One of the biggest reasons I am a Logan Kinsey Logan Kinsey 6'6" | PF Spring Lake Park | 2022 State MN fan is how he uses his size and agility to get into shots. And I believe he is a better shooter with a better touch than others believe. Love the separation move into the touch at the 2:05-2:10 mark. Good showcase of his potential.
2:17 mark… Keyon Broussard Keyon Broussard 6'4" | SG Roseville | 2022 State MN . Keyon is a solid playmaker. The Panthers locked him up last night and held him to four points but Broussard is a 16 point per game guy and can make plays, like this nice bounce pass to a cutting William DeVries.
2:35 mark…. Logan Kinsey Logan Kinsey 6'6" | PF Spring Lake Park | 2022 State MN . Another example of his shooting touch that extends to the arc. Logan had 28 last night before heading to the bench.
2:45 mark…. Logan Kinsey Logan Kinsey 6'6" | PF Spring Lake Park | 2022 State MN . Not a perfect example of his agility and what he can do on defense, but a decent one. Shows hard, stops the ball, forces a potential turnover and dives on the ground. I’m a big fan of both Kinsey’s potential and his productivity. That’s why I think he is both a top 20 candidate for Mr. Basketball AND a top 20 prospect in Minnesota.
3:10 mark… Payton Thomsen Payton Thomsen 6'2" | PG Spring Lake Park | 2022 State MN . Another attack, another sample of that off arm combined with the first step getting to the space and then Payton scoring in the lane while the help defenders aren’t there. Thomsen is 6’2 but he sure looks a bit bigger than that. Maybe that’s because everybody adds an inch or two to their height these days but Thomsen looks like a 6’3 off guard. Scores 20 a night.
3:23 mark… Khalid Abdi. Khalid is Roseville’s 6’2/6’3 junior wing that has some potential. I’ve talked about him once before and after seeing a few highlights here I think he’s a player to keep in mind potential wise. Had a team high 13 against Spring Lake Park.
3:40 mark… Payton Thomsen Payton Thomsen 6'2" | PG Spring Lake Park | 2022 State MN . Yes Payton can shoot threes with the best of them. You have to be on him with a tight closeout or it’s too late.
3:55 mark… Jackson Weier to Kinsey. Good pass from Weier and an example of Kinsey’s length, quickness, and bounce into the dunk. When it comes to long agile players with good size, Kinsey is one of the best Minnesota has.
5:20 mark… Jackson Weier. Jackson can stroke the ball too. Have a look at his shooting touch. He’s a ball handler but he’s a guy they can kick out to as well. Hits another at 5:58 as well.
6:10 mark… Abdiaziz Isaack. If you want to talk speed… wow. Isaack has a ton of it. The 5’5 Roseville senior flew up the court for this reverse.
