As we head into the 2nd half of the season, we look back at who played well the 1st half of the season.

My assistant and I went to 2-4 games a week plus many tournaments along the way covering a lot of ground.

We start with the seniors first.

Senior stock up:

[player_tooltip player_id="827047" first="Dillan" last="Baker"] Salpointe Catholic (Pictured)

A high IQ forward with skill. He seems to get better every showing. His skill has polished up each season and he shows toughness with his defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="973583" first="Evan" last="Clayton"] Arcadia

A skilled guard has a lot on his shoulders this season. He can score it from all three levels and needs to do it each game for them to beat the top teams. He has some bounce and gets high elevation on his jumpers from mid to the 3pt line. He can post up as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1121053" first="Dwayne" last="Porter"] Valley Vista

An athletic stud plays and defends multiple positions for the Monsoon. His transition game is some of the best in the West Side and scores on downhill play and will hit some J's.

[player_tooltip player_id="1015263" first="Talbot" last="Cummard"] Mesa

Another player who is asked to do a lot early on this season. He seems to defend every position on the court and is becoming a play maker for his teammates. He has that Cummard toughness that we are used to over the years. He can shoot it from mid to the 3 as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="827040" first="Luke" last="Arington"] Shadow Ridge

Arington had some monster games early on including 39 points in one game. He gets hot quickly and stays that way all game long. He has a pretty touch from deep off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id="973567" first="Daylyn" last="Martin"] Desert Vista

Martin has taken the reigns of this team this season and looks good doing it. He has great speed in the open court with a shifty handle. He can drive and kick plus shoot it from deep.

[player_tooltip player_id="1030972" first="Nick" last="Tolson"] Chaparral

Tolson missed all season last year and is starting off where he left off. He can score it from inside and out with a nice touch on his jumper. He rebounds well in his area and gives high effort on D.

[player_tooltip player_id="1033047" first="Eli" last="Fleming"] Dysart

A knockdown shooter has a clip from deep. He is very steady with his approach and lets it fly quickly. His corner 3 is one of the best out there and he can give a hard shot fake and dribble drive to the cup.

[player_tooltip player_id="1239576" first="Jose" last="Salas-Zorilla"] Camp Verde

I didn’t see him play, but saw his highlights from the Judy Dixon tournament. He was on fire all week hitting 16 3’s out of 29 attempts. He has a good feel for the game and can crossover his man to gain separation from his defender. He has good court vision and savvy to make plays and score. He can step into 3’s, pull-up and catch and shoot from deep.
