There was a mix of high school and post grad teams, and there was tons of talent in every game.
Here’s a look at part two of the day one standouts from NC programs at the event.
Be sure to tune in to the CBG Live Network to watch all of the games of this very high level event.
Truman Claytor Truman Claytor 6'6" | SF New Life Christian | 2023 State NC | 6’4” WG | Word of God 2023
Claytor put on one of the best shooting performances I have seen in a while, as he came out of the gates on fire and things didn’t really change even after the game got chippy and started to get called closely. He was on fire from the beginning as he had 21 points in the first half and made 5 three-pointers, he showed he can create space off the bounce and he can make tough shots on the move and he can attack closeouts and get to the rim as well. He finished with an impressive 32 points and made 8 three’s in their win over Liberty Heights.
Freddie Dilione Freddie Dilione 6'6" | SG Word of God | 2023 #37 Nation NC | 6’4” CG | Word of God 2023
Dilione wasn’t one to be outdone, as he maybe didn’t make as many shots from deep as Claytor but he showed he’s one of the most pure all-around scorers in North Carolina if not on the east coast. The 6’4” guard initiated the offense and created shots in isolation situations, he can score it from all three levels off the bounce and he’s an explosive athlete but also plays with good pace and change of speeds to get to spots. He finished with 29 points and was getting whatever he wanted off the bounce.
Ja’Kwon Moore | 6’6” WF | Word of God 2023
While the other two were on fire and made a ton of shots and they kept feeding them, Moore showed he’s also a high level prospect who has good size for his position and good versatility as well. He can handle the basketball and create space off the bounce, he can make shots from deep and is a strong finisher around the rim as well and he can rebound and has good potential on the defensive end too.
Elijah Jamison Elijah Jamison 6'3" | PG Liberty Heights | 2022 State #204 Nation NC | 6’3” PG | Liberty Heights National 2022
Liberty Heights got off to a rough start as Word of God shot the absolute lights out in the first half and were up 30 at halftime, but that didn’t stop Heights from mounting a comeback and Jamison was a huge reason. He showed grit and competed on both ends until the very end, he can get in the lane and he can make plays for himself and others and he made contested shots from multiple levels. He finished with 18 points and 3 assists in the loss.
Ryan Prather | 6’4” WG | Liberty Heights National 2022
The Akron commit got off to a slow start also, but he made a lot of plays for Liberty Heights in the second half in their comeback as did the entire backcourt. He’s known as a shooter but he also showed that he can bring it defensively and jump passing lanes and force turnovers, he can attack closeouts and cut off the ball to get easy buckets and he makes good decisions and takes good shots too. He finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.
Silas Demary | 6’4” PG | Liberty Heights National 2023
Demary is considered by many one of the top point guards on the east coast in the 2023 class, and he showed flashes of that in the second half of their game against Word of God. The 6’4” lead guard has good burst and change of speed to get in the lane, he’s an athletic finisher who has good body control and he can create shots for himself at multiple levels and others. He finished with 16 points and 4 rebounds in the loss.
