NCHSAA 1A & 2A West Forwards/Bigs: 2023s

<h5>The 2021-22 season is finishing up conference play in the next few weeks. Here’s a look at some forwards/bigs in the 2023 class to keep eyes on this season.</h5> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1360343" first="Areon" last="Matthews"] | 6’4 Forward/Wing | Winston-Salem Prep</h5> <p>Matthews is an emerging name to know over at Winston-Salem Prep given his versatility on both ends of the floor. He’s put together some solid production this season with 12.7 ppg, 14.0 rpg and 2.2 bpg as a factor on the glass, rim-protection and scoring front as Winston-Salem Prep is off to a 5-0 start in league play. He’s one of a few names to keep an eye on in their rotation.</p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1126215" first="O’marion" last="Ferguson"] | 6’6 Forward | Mountain Island Charter</h5> <p>Ferguson has made quite the name for himself in the Mountain Island Charter rotation as he’s a put together a double-double average and protected the rim with quite the prowess. He’s producing 16.7 ppg, 10.7 rpg and 2.5 bpg while flying around at the forward spot and showing off his length and athleticism. He’s a 2023 prospect at Mountain Island Charter to get eyes on.</p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1372196" first="Luke" last="Rector"] | 6’4 Forward/Center | Draughn</h5> <p>Rector is a two-sport athlete with a presence on the hardwood and gridiron at Draughn High School. He’s averaging 11.8 ppg and 8.4 rpg as a presence on the interior for the Wildcats as they’re off to a 3-1 start in league play. He uses his size well to alter shots, rebound the ball and score around the rim as he’s shooting 53 percent from the field as a junior. </p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1059716" first="McCaskill" last="Rivers"] | 6’7 Forward/Wing | East Gaston</h5> <p>Rivers is a versatile prospect over at East Gaston with a ton of potential in the 2023 class. He’s put together 18.9 ppg, 11.2 rpg and 2.4 apg as a threat to make things happen on all three levels. As he shows he can lead with his size and versatility, look for his name to grow in the class. </p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1360301" first="Daevin" last="Hobbs"] | 6’6 Forward /Center | Robinson</h5> <p>Hobbs is a Power 5 football recruit but it hasn’t slowed down his pursuits on the hardwood as he’s played a pivotal role in Robinson’s 13-2 start to the 2021-22 season. He’s averaging 16.1 ppg while showing off his ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor with his size and frame at 6-foot-6.</p>
