<p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">In this edition of ’My Notebook,’ where I share my notes from this season, I will share about a few players I saw at the #HuntsvilleClassic and #PlainviewDominosClassic. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Jaylen-Blackwell.png"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1376654 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Jaylen-Blackwell-300x300.png" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a>Jaylen Blackwell </span>(6’3/Forward/2025)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">School: Madison Academy</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Instagram: Jayblack_12</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Twitter: N/A</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Jaylen is a freshman getting meaningful minutes on the varsity. He is playing with a freedom of nothing to lose and a lot to learn. He gives everything that he has on both ends of the court. At 6’3, he has good positional size, and it is safe to say that he is not done growing.</p> <blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><strong>With his ability to score off the bounce as a freshman, if he continues on the current trajectory, he could become a significant offensive threat for Madison Academy in the years to come.</strong></p> </blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">At the #HuntsvilleClassic, he played 12 minutes and piled up the following stat line: 9pts (3-5, 60% from the field; 1-2 from behind the arc). He is a kid to keep an eye on during the spring and summer and see what kind of jumps in his game he makes before next season.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Gary-Haymon.png"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1376656 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Gary-Haymon-300x300.png" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a>Gary D. Haymon </span>(6’0/Combo Guard/2023)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">School: Plainview HS</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Instagram: dylan_haymon</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Twitter: @dylanhaymon</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Gary is a combo guard with a nice feel for the game. He is a player that can play in structure and with freedom. He impacts the game from both positions, whether he is on-ball or off. As a scorer, he can get to the rack off the bounce, and when he gets to the paint, he has crafty finishing moves to get the bucket. He understands that his attack off the bounce breaks down defenses and gives him the advantage by creating open scoring opportunities for his teammates.</p> <blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><strong>He made several passes that showed his vision and accuracy.</strong></p> </blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">His overall game is consistent across the board. He is a consistent source of production for Plainview and will be a key to the puzzle when it comes to their post-season success.   </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Logan-Feltman.png"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1376661 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Logan-Feltman-300x300.png" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a>[player_tooltip player_id="725153" first="Logan" last="Feltman"] </span>(6’10/Power Forward/2022)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">School: Winfield HS</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Instagram: Loganfeltman8</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Twitter: @Loganfeltman8</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">It is an understatement to say that Logan has good size, as he stands 6’10. The thing about Logan is simple, he rebounds well, as you think a 6’10 player should. He mans the paint on defense and challenges shots as you think a 6’10 player should. Unfortunately, in the contest that I saw his squad compete in against Section, he played the majority of the time on offense around the perimeter.</p> <blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><strong>He is a player that many will show interest in simply because of his 6’10 size.</strong></p> </blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Logan has many things to continue developing as a shot at the next level presents itself. Mechanics with his J, work in the weight room, and developing his handles are areas of growth for Logan. Logan presents a challenge for his opponents every time he steps onto the court; the question is can he exploit the mismatches.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Michael-Johnson.png"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1376664 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Michael-Johnson-300x300.png" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a>[player_tooltip player_id="1129573" first="Michael" last="Johnson"] </span>(6’8/Center/2022)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">School: Huffman HS</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Instagram: N/A</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Twitter: N/A</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">When I was going through my notebook to see who I would put in this article, I noticed that I had yet to write on MJ. The funny thing about this brief story is that I just saw a video of MJ putting someone on a poster on Twitter. Anniston did not have anyone that could match up with him physically, and I am not sure if there have been many opponents that had someone that could. He has a frame that can hold more strength, which will benefit him as he gets ready for the next level.</p> <blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><strong>He has positional size and length that creates advantageous opportunities for him in transition and in the half-court.</strong></p> </blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">He is tough to defend in the paint, and he finishes well at and above the rim. Defensively he will put your shot on the glass, and he does a good job challenging shots without fouling. He is extremely athletic, is explosive off the floor, and runs the floor hard.   </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Rashawn-Knox.png"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1376667 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/PH-Rashawn-Knox-300x300.png" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a>RaShawn Knox </span>(6’3/Point Guard/2022)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">School: Hazel Green HS</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Instagram: rashawn.knox</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Twitter: @RashawnKnox</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">I have seen RaShawn several times this year, and he continues to impress during his senior campaign. During the Domino’s Classic, he had one of his best outings that I have seen him have this year. He may have had better performances, but I am only speaking on the times I actually have laid eyes on him. He has good size at the guard spot and is very knowledgeable at using his body and leveraging his physicality to create space. I am not sure where his recruitment is as of right now, but his size at his position, along with his ball skills, could have interest coming his way.</p> <blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;"><strong>He attacks with purpose and finishes strong at the rim.</strong></p> </blockquote> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">He has a mature game that is expected of a player with his experience. Every time I have seen him this season, he has produced at a high level, and not just in the scoring column.  </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 16.0pt; color: #0e101a;">Check back soon as I might drop a few more players from My Notebook in a couple of hours.</p>
