<p>With various games that were nail-bitters, we take a look at some of the prospects that stood out in these highly contested games. </p> <p><strong>Davis vs. Layton</strong></p> <p>Davis High School survived a late scare from Layton as [player_tooltip player_id="934473" first="Rex" last="Sunderland"] was huge down the stretch. With a lot of players struggling Rex was able to blow by his man a few times to get some space. [player_tooltip player_id="968040" first="Max" last="Painter"] also played well down the stretch as he was cleaning things up down low and finding himself open spacing out into the short-corner. Layton High School has some good play from 6’9 Class of 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1206892" first="Brock" last="Mendoza"] who was tough defensively against Painter and Ihrig. This game proved that everyone is gunning for Davis. [player_tooltip player_id="1192216" first="Mitch" last="Johnson"] was keeping Layton close, but [player_tooltip player_id="934473" first="Rex" last="Sunderland"] finished the game with 28. </p> <p><strong>Alta vs. Orem</strong></p> <p>Orem rode a 13-8 4th quarter comeback. As Alta had a chance to tie or win a few times down the stretch but their offense stalled. [player_tooltip player_id="1192301" first="Carter" last="Walker"] was legit as he was flying all over the gym dunking here and there. Alta did get excellent play from [player_tooltip player_id="967725" first="Jaxon" last="Heiden"] down on the blocks as he got the better of the Orem bigs. Jaxon led all scorers with 24 big points. Ethan Stoddard for Orem was great as well. This Orem team has a lot of player that are must see prospects that can play at the next level. 6’2 [player_tooltip player_id="1191357" first="Dylan" last="Smith"] came in and gave Alta a boost as he was hitting from the outside. Looking forward to watching these two teams lace it up again. </p> <p><strong>Bingham vs. Cyprus</strong></p> <p>This game was in full control of Cyprus as they came out in a 2-3 zone that gave Bingham some trouble. They had open looks as [player_tooltip player_id="968085" first="Luke" last="Leatherwood"] took some time to heat up a did [player_tooltip player_id="968084" first="Kam" last="Dupaix"]. Kam was put all over the floor and he was effective. [player_tooltip player_id="934030" first="Quentin" last="Meza"] was great as was [player_tooltip player_id="1057025" first="Diego" last="Mulford"] who kept Cyprus in the game as they rallied back to send the game into overtime. In the overtime you could see the focus and pace was in Bingham’s favor. [player_tooltip player_id="968083" first="Devin" last="Carlson"] showed some grit as he was defending some smaller guards and he came through on both ends of the floor. He is a good prospect that is under the radar. </p>
