There was high quality basketball all over the state on Thursday. I’m going to give you my top 8 player performances of the day.

#8

[player_tooltip player_id="986580" first="Gaden" last="Muxlow"] (2023, CG, Brown City)

Muxlow led his team with 19 points in a nearly last second 44-42 win over Port Huron. Muxlow simply continues to be a nearly impossible matchup with his combination of size, strength, and shooting.

#7

[player_tooltip player_id="1223489" first="Dontez" last="Scott"] (2024, PG, Summit Academy)

Scott is successfully adjusting to an increased role on both ends for Summit Academy. He had 18 points in a solid 48-42 victory over Kalamazoo Central. Scott is a pure playmaker off the perimeter.

#6

Devin Waugh (2022, SG, Detroit Southeastern)

Waugh was a huge part of his team’s 66-54 win over Jalen Rose Leadership Academy. Waugh was terrific attacking the defense off the wing and creating opportunities. He finished the contest with 22 points.

#5

[player_tooltip player_id="787680" first="Jack" last="Karasinski"] (2022, G/F, Grand Rapids Catholic Central)

Karasinski was his typical elite type player yesterday. He led his squad with 23 points in a marquee game win over Grand Blanc. Karasinski is so smart and efficient on the offensive end, helping his team maximize almost every possession.

#4

[player_tooltip player_id="787651" first="JaVaughn" last="Hannah"] (2022, SG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)

Hannah was huge in a matchup between top 10 teams. He led his team with 23 points in a message sending 70-51 victory against a high quality Ferndale squad. Hannah might be the most explosive scorer in the state this year.

#3

[player_tooltip player_id="863923" first="Chansey" last="Willis"] (2022, PG, Detroit King)

If Willis continues to play like this, he’ll be a finalist for Mr. Basketball, hands down. He wet off for a double-double with 38 points and 10 assists in a very impressive 80-47 win over Saginaw. Willis has been simply unstoppable so far this season.

#2

Gannon Blair (2022, PF, Divine Child)

Blair had himself a day, that’s for sure. He absolutely dominated the game, dropping in 33 points and snagging 18 rebounds. Blair’s big time performance enabled his team to secure an impressive 72-64 win against a game L’Anse Creuse team.

#1

[player_tooltip player_id="986244" first="Tyler" last="Jamison"] (2023, SF, Port Huron Northern)

Jamison led his team to a 60-57 win over a very good Troy Athens team. He absolutely went off, finishing with a school record 47 points and also grabbing 9 rebounds. He just couldn’t miss en route to scoring just over 78% of his team’s points.

* This isn’t necessarily all inclusive, but just what I could see, cover, evaluate over the course of the day.
