With the highly anticipated 2021-22 Texas high school basketball season currently underway, we discuss some of the prospects starting the year off with stellar early season performances.

[player_tooltip player_id="1056525" first="Blake" last="Muschalek"] | Shooting Guard | Trinity Christian Academy | C/o ’23

[player_tooltip player_id="1056525" first="Blake" last="Muschalek"] put on a remarkable show early on into the season when he played out of his mind and went off for an insane 39 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Muschalek was an extremely effective and threatening bucket getter from all areas on the floor, nailing three-pointers from way beyond the arc, taking defenders off the dribble with his smooth and shifty crossover, and putting up points in transition. The 6-foot-3-inch guard drained several three-point attempts, it didn’t matter if he shot it off the catch or the dribble, the ball was sure to fall through the net. Muschalek displayed deadly college range anytime a defender decided not to step up and protector the perimeter. The best thing about [player_tooltip player_id="1056525" first="Blake" last="Muschalek"] is the fact that he gives equal amounts of effort on both ends of the floor, his stifling defense may have been the most impressive part of his outstanding performance. The way Muschalek played the passing lanes and forced on-ball steals was phenomenal, showing off his ball hawk nature, great reaction time, and anticipation for the pass as well as the dribble. Blake’s very quick-moving hands and cat-like reflexes helped him hassle opposing guards often resulting in a turnover before they could ever cross halfcourt.

[player_tooltip player_id="1327606" first="Aidan" last="Castillo"] | Shooting Guard | Lubbock Monterey HS | Co ’22

[player_tooltip player_id="1327606" first="Aidan" last="Castillo"] put on a breakout showing in Abilene, Texas to beat the Eagles. His 23 points came in an array of ways, usually coming from either a pass or a rebound. On a consistent basis, Castillo found himself in the right spot at the most opportune times. His knack for always being near the ball led to offensive rebounds, second-chance buckets, and easy layups. Great finisher in traffic, through contact, and playing through fouls. Anytime Castillo was allowed to pick up speed and get downhill he was tough to keep out of the lane. Castillo never wasted a dribble, he made every touch count for something, consistently receiving the ball and immediately getting to work either letting it fly from distance or attacking the teeth of the defense. The senior guard also utilized his length and hangtime incredibly well to stretch around contesting defenders in order to complete shots at the rim. [player_tooltip player_id="1327606" first="Aidan" last="Castillo"] is someone who can truly excel in a team-oriented offense with players that make the extra pass and guards that love to facilitate. One thing for sure is that Castillo will be a great utility piece for a lucky program at the collegiate level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1051194" first="Rocco" last="Paul"] | Shooting Guard | Frisco HS | C/o ’22

Texas-ranked [player_tooltip player_id="1051194" first="Rocco" last="Paul"] has easily been one of the most consistent and efficient scoring guards in the entire state, of any class. Paul averaged 24 points per game on 65% shooting from the perimeter and 55% shooting from the field. To close out the month of November, [player_tooltip player_id="1051194" first="Rocco" last="Paul"] went berserk, put his bucket-getting capabilities on display, and dropped a mean 33 points on The Colony Cougars, proving to be a legitimate scoring option from all three levels of the court. Paul had the defense’s full attention yet he still couldn’t be stopped. He was such a masterful shot maker off-balance and out of rhythm, Paul shows a phenomenal touch whether he’s fading or leaning away from his shot. Killer fadeaway jumpshot that seems impossible to block or contest effectively due to his great elevation and the perfect amount of separation he gets while falling back. The 6-foot-4 two-guard pulled up in defender’s faces with no consciousness, lighting it up from the elbows in the mid-range and also drilling three-pointers from both corners, all game long. Rocco is one of those guys you can’t allow to heat up or else the hoop will become as big as an ocean for him. Paul has been playing like he has something to prove, he’s currently producing a breakout senior season, his stock is on the rise, and he’s competing like he has something to prove.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295836" first="Bryson" last="Hill"] | Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Tyler HS | C/o ’22

Flat-out high motor ballplayer that brings an excellent competitive spirit to the floor. Hill is a 2 sport athlete with a football background that translates to the basketball court, everything [player_tooltip player_id="1295836" first="Bryson" last="Hill"] brings to the table is conducive to winning games. Throughout the first month of play Hill made his presence felt throughout the entirety of every game on both ends of the court, competing for the toughest rebounds, chasing down every 50/50 ball, consistently upping the tempo, using his speed to get buckets in the open court, and much more. Hill is someone you can count on to be apart of every hustle play. [player_tooltip player_id="1295836" first="Bryson" last="Hill"]’s athletic abilities are what make him a terror in transition as well as in the halfcourt, with very fast-moving feet, a strong upper body, and a completely fearless mindset on the attack. Tremendous use of his physical nature, he drives inside with no regard for the defense, ready to dunk or finish a layup through whoever stands in his way. His athleticism also came in handy and played a major role in his success as a defender. The quick choppy feet and lateral quickness Hill displays often leave ball-handles stuck out on the perimeter with nowhere to penetrate. The 6-foot-3-inch lefty, [player_tooltip player_id="1295836" first="Bryson" last="Hill"] is a stud athlete with raw basketball skills and potential, someone that can be molded into a solid college-level offensive talent.

[player_tooltip player_id="787323" first="Finley" last="Bizjack"] | Shooting Guard | Byron Nelson HS | C/o ’23

High ranking two-guard, [player_tooltip player_id="787323" first="Finley" last="Bizjack"] officially allocated over 1000 career points after a spectacular start to his junior season scoring the rock. Ever since Bizjack arrived onto the Byron Nelson campus 2 years ago, he has been one of the most elite pure bucket getters of them all, bar none. [player_tooltip player_id="787323" first="Finley" last="Bizjack"] hasn’t slowed down one bit, in fact, he continues to expand his game, taking his skillset to the next level by polishing every little detail to his basketball prowess.
