This past week the South Carolina Class A Showdown went down at Carvers Bay HS out in the Choppee Community of Georgetown County. The event put together by Carvers Bay HS Jeff Mezzatesta featured 14 teams throughout the Palmetto State. Each team played 3 games over the 3-day period. Let's take a look at some of the 2023 Top Performers we were able to see while in attendance.

[player_tooltip player_id="865297" first="Tydriez" last="Coleman"] - Great Falls (pictured on front)

Coleman a long and rangy forward runs the floor very well. Coleman has been making noise for the Red Devils since being on the varsity as a freshman. Coleman must get stronger and finish on contact better down the road. Tydriez is active in the passing lanes and has the ability to alter and challenge shots on the defensive end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1350729" first="Ty" last="Turman"] - Calhoun Falls Charter

Turman was a nice surprise to see with his play. Ty helped the blue Flashes to a (2-1) record here at the SC Class A Showcase. Turman came out hitting 7 three pointers in the opening round game vs Whale Branch. Ty is a very confident guard who played both spots on and off the ball in the backcourt. Ty has a quick shot release along with great shot selection - never looking to force anything.

[player_tooltip player_id="1227988" first="Brushaurd" last="Young"] - Denmark-Olar HS

Young plays in the shadow of USC bound guard [player_tooltip player_id="930636" first="Zachary" last="Davis"] on this Vikings roster. I really don't think that bothers him one bit. Prep Hoops first saw him play this summer at the SCBCA Team Camp. Brushaurd has looked like he has grown and filled out some since June. Young scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds tonight before fouling out. He brought good versatility to the floor for the Vikings. Brushaurd was able to absorb and finish on contact when down in the paint. Young plays football for the Vikings and hauled in 20 receptions this past season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1278636" first="Hudson" last="Spivey"] - Pee Dee Academy (Marion)

Spivey and the Eagles play in the SCISA Class 2A ranks. The Eagles were a last-minute replacement when CA Johnson bailed out. Spivey a Quarterback in the fall for the Eagles roams the paint for the basketball team. Hudson likes to play face-up to the cup and do a little pick and pop at times.

[player_tooltip player_id="922018" first="Tony" last="Bell"] - Carvers Bay HS

Bell is a bit of a pest on the floor with his ability to create havoc and constant chaos. Tony will dive all over the floor for loose balls or look to sacrifice his body for a charge. Bell plays the game all out at all times.
