Sandy’s Spiel Showcase: Standout Guards Pt. 1

2022 6-1 SG [player_tooltip player_id="1123943" first="KJ" last="Reid"] – Social Circle

Part of a deep and balanced attack, [player_tooltip player_id="1123943" first="KJ" last="Reid"] didn’t have to pour in bundles of points on Saturday but he still managed to create offense. Reid had 10 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists, shining as a facilitator while still serving as a scoring threat. He hit a pair of threes and scored on a pull-up and a floater. Reid is a multidimensional scorer that creates separation on the perimeter.

2025 5-11 PG Marcus Smith – Walnut Grove

The young guard showed great promise, sparking his offense with his defense. Smith was an opportunistic defender, pouncing on lazy passes and weak handles to score in transition. The more reps he gets, the better he will get. Just over a week removed from seeing him for the first time, Smith already looked more comfortable against pressure and was able to positively impact the game with 11 points, 2 assists and 6 steals.

2022 6-1 G [player_tooltip player_id="1183120" first="Demyron" last="Williams"] – Walnut Grove

When [player_tooltip player_id="1183120" first="Demyron" last="Williams"] plays with a high motor, he’s a very good guard. He did a little bit of everything racking up 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in a win over South Paulding. Williams has a solid build and good athleticism. Playing within himself and focusing on other areas aside from just scoring is when he’s at his best.

2023 6-2 CG [player_tooltip player_id="1133341" first="Jeremiah" last="Taylor"] – South Paulding

[player_tooltip player_id="1133341" first="Jeremiah" last="Taylor"] was a bright spot for the Spartans. Coming off the bench he posted 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. He scored from within 10-feet on some short jumpers and knocked down both a mid-range and three-pointer. You can always count on Taylor to fill up the box score. His athleticism and ability to get to the rim give him nice upside at the next level.

2023 5-10 PG Sean Lynch – South Paulding

Swervo sparked a late rally for the Spartans, scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter with a pair of threes in tow. Lynch finished with 13 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. He’s a fun guard to watch with how he sees the floor and is willing to deliver the tough pass.

2022 5-11 G Cam Johnson – Drew Charter

[player_tooltip player_id="870165" first="Cameron" last="Johnson"] served as a crucial third scoring option in Drew’s 70-61 win over Providence Christian. He scored 12 points and let the offense come to him. A former All-Region selection as a freshman and sophomore at Harrison, Johnson is used to piling in the points but with Drew Charter, he doesn’t have to force anything and gets the leftovers after [player_tooltip player_id="1049117" first="JaQuez" last="Thornton"] and JaKobe Strozier are done eating. He hit a pair of key mid-range jumpers part of a 16-0 run to open the fourth quarter that put away the Storm.
