MENOMONEE FALLS -- In arguably the biggest non-conference game of the season, Menomonee Falls hosted Pewaukee in a battle of two state title contenders.

[player_tooltip player_id="801135" first="Steven" last="Clay"] - 2022 - SG - Menomonee Falls

Clay had 18 points in a loss. The senior wing gave Menomonee Falls a really nice boost to open the second half and pull the Phoenix within four. While he's slated to wind up at the mid-major level, Clay is a high major scorer. The 6-foot-5 senior has the handles and length to generate just about any shot he wants and there are few types of shots he's incapable of making. Thought Clay also did a nice job defensively, having to play in the post most of the night. Falls doesn't exactly have a ton of size and in some of their lineups, Clay is the biggest guy on the floor for the Phoenix. Clay gave some stuff up, but for most of the game, was able to force Pewaukee's forwards into tougher shots without giving them anything easy.

[player_tooltip player_id="761419" first="Ashton" last="Janowski"] - 2022 - PG - Pewaukee

Janowski had a quiet first 10 minutes of the game. The last 10 minutes of the first half were anything but. The Hillsdale commit went on a strong individual run that ignited Pewaukee and created some distance between them and Falls going into the locker room. Janowski scored 14 of his 19 points in the back end of the first half. A prospect that’s clearly worked extremely hard on his game, Janowski has always been capable of elevating his play to be able to compete with the high-level Division 1 prospects in this state and across the Midwest because of his skill and basketball IQ. Janowski draws parallels to former Brookfield Central star Cole Nau, who’s also at Hillsdale with his ability to shoot on the move, utilize change of pace with the ball, kill opponents in the mid-range, and play mistake-free basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1089682" first="Nick" last="Janowski"] - 2024 - G - Pewaukee

Love the shot-making ability from Janowski. Falls tried to smother him early and did a great job defensively...it just didn't matter. Janowski knocked down three-straight triples with a hand in his face in the first half and went on to finish with a game-high 22 points. Janowski is a plus isolation scorer with nasty handles that leave defenders in the dust. He'll score a lot of points in his career, but probably won't get credit as much as he should for the floor vision and feel for the game as a point guard as he should. Right now, most of that role is placed on his older brother, but Janowski seems to be able to play both on and off the ball effectively. A high major talent with a handful of power-five scholarship offers already, the 6-foot-4 sophomore has a lot of game and an assassin-like scoring ability.

[player_tooltip player_id="865859" first="Emmett" last="Loew"] - 2022 - G - Pewaukee

As talented as Pewaukee is with four scholarship players in their lineup, Loew definitely makes them better. A prospect that's always just tried to be a star in his role, Loew had 11 points, including nine in the second half as the Pirates began to pull away. As always, he came up with a few momentum-shifting hustle plays that suck the life out of teams who generally have to exude all their energy into stopping the other four players in the starting lineup. Loew may have games where he doesn't score much, if at all, but you always feel his presence on the floor. Teammates feed off the infectious energy and hustle. The 5-foot-11 guard would definitely be capable of scoring in double figures at a lot of other programs, but seems to thrive as an x-factor type player. Said it before, not sure what type of college prospect Loew is, but I know I'd want him on my roster as he'll find some way to make any team better.

[player_tooltip player_id="953944" first="Milan" last="Momcilovic"] - 2023 - F - Pewaukee

Momcilovic had 20 points in Pewaukee's victory. Facing an undersized Falls squad, Momcilovic went to work on the block with a series of fall-away jumpers that were uncontestable. A highly skilled back-to-the-basket forward, Momcilovic has a ton of tools and tricks when he catches near the rim. He can score with either hand and shoot over either shoulder, making defenders just guess and what he's going to do next. The 6-foot-8 forward will spend a lot of time on the perimeter as well. He's a floor spacer and pick n' pop threat that's going to create wide open driving lanes for his teammates and shoot it very consistently from 3-point range. Momcilovic is one of the better transition 3-point shooting bigs I've ever scouted. He's a guy that can set his feet quickly and let it fly on the fast break.

[player_tooltip player_id="1129756" first="Seth" last="Trimble"] - 2022 - PG - Menomonee Falls

Trimble led Falls with 22 points in Thursday's loss. All of his points came from two-point range or the foul line. The North Carolina commit did a really good job of not settling, putting pressure on the defense, and reading the pick n' roll coverage. As a downhill, attacking scorer, Trimble really understands how to go shoulder-to-shoulder with his teammate off the pick n' roll, force a switch or the defender to go under, and then take what the defense gives him. He was a killer in the mid-range all night and when he was able to get a head of steam going to the rim, Pewaukee wasn't keeping him away from the hoop. A bouncy, athletic guard with a strong upper body, think Trimble is ACC ready and can help the Tar Heels right away in some capacity.
