The North Dakota High School Coaches Association named the ALL-STATE FOOTBALL Teams last week. In this article, we are going to look at the All-State Football players that also stand out in basketball. We are looking at 9-man football today.

9-Man First Team Offense

[player_tooltip player_id="1124143" first="Corban" last="Potts"] (2022) |6-3 PG| LaMoure/Litchville-Marion

He made the All-State Team as a QB. Potts had a perfect season going undefeated and winning the State Championship. In hoops, Corban will be one of the best PG's in Class B. Potts is a very intelligent player on both sides of the ball. He directs traffic and runs the show on offense. On defense, Corban is a very very good defender. Look for the Loboes to come into the hoops season ready to keep winning after all the success they had this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id="1133050" first="Jace" last="Friesz"] (2022) |6-3 F| Flasher

He made the All-State Team as a QB. Jace was also All-State in basketball last season. Friesz was a walking double-double last winter and I expect more of the same this winter. Jace is a strong player and a top-notch rebounder. Friesz is a productive and efficient finisher around the basket. Expect Jace and the Bulldogs to contend for a Region-5 Championship this spring.

[player_tooltip player_id="1224171" first="Colton" last="Ness"] (2023) |6-2 SG| LaMoure/Litchville-Marion

He made the All-State Team as a TE. Ness had a perfect season going undefeated and winning the State Championship. He had a phenomenal season catching the ball and making splashy plays. In hoops, Ness is a lock-down defender and a stud athlete. He can get out on the wing and slash to the cup for buckets. Just like in football, Colton has unbelievable hands. This helps him board-up as few wings can. Look for Ness and Potts to be a dynamic duo for the Loboes.

[player_tooltip player_id="1133052" first="Dylan" last="Rud"] (2022) |5-10 SG| New Salem-Almont

He made the All-State Team as a WR. Dylan and the Holsteins had a great season but came up a bit short in the playoffs. In basketball, you should expect Dylan to stand out shooting the ball from behind the arc and from mid-range. He worked very hard this past year and Dylan will come into games bigger, stronger, and more skilled.

[player_tooltip player_id="1338496" first="Jace" last="Nelson"] (2022) |5-10 PG| Ray

He made the All-State Team as a WR. In hoops, Nelson will be one of the best seniors in Region-8. Jace is a smooth and quick point guard that will put pressure on defenses with his athleticism and constant attacking. He will be a problematic defender that creates turnovers and scoring chances in transition.

9-Man First Team Defense

[player_tooltip player_id="1133049" first="Wyatt" last="Caraballo"] (2023) |6-1 G| Divide County

He made the All-State Team as an LB. Expect Wyatt to carry his football success into the hoops season. The young Caraballo is a very nice athlete that has a well-rounded game. He can score in multiple ways and Wyatt should be one of the better players in Region-8 this season.

9-Man Second Team

[player_tooltip player_id="1138685" first="Cruz" last="Hernandez"] (2023) |5-11 G| Hankinson

He can really score the basketball and Cruz is a great athlete. Hernandez improved his game over the summer, especially as a defender. Cruz is skilled with the basketball and he is a fierce competitor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1318558" first="Evan" last="Richman"] (2022) |6-2 F| Maple River

He plays physically and he does not shy away from contact around the paint. Richman is a bouncy athlete that can get up for rebounds and finish at the rim. Look for Evan to put up impressive numbers this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1125918" first="Kelby" last="Azure"] (2022) |6-4 PF| Hatton/Northwood

He has committed to NDSU for football. Kelby is very physical and a special athlete. He will average a double-double this winter. Azure can take over the paint and dominate inside the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144581" first="Dalen" last="Leftbear"] (2024) |6-2 SF| Four Winds-Minnewaukan

He has a bright future in basketball and Dalen is just starting to tap into his potential. For such a young player, Dalen is already a two-way player. He is a gifted athlete that shines in transition and at attacking the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="1125691" first="Weston" last="Kuhn"] (2022) |6-5 PF| New Salem-Almont

He is a beast around the basket and he will be a double-double player this season. Kuhn is a tremendous rebounder and a physical presence. Expect him to be a rim protector and for Weston to be the backbone of the Holstein defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="1133055" first="Lane" last="Caraballo"] (2022) |6-3 SF| Divide County

He is a physical kid and a nice athlete. Caraballo scores many of his points in the paint but he can also nail the 15-foot jumper. He should be a very serious rebounder and a stout defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1050257" first="Tyson" last="Enget"] (2023) |5-11 PG| Powers Lake

He will be one of the best junior guards in Class B. Tyson is a sniper and a scoring machine. Expect Enget to score at will this year. He is also a facilitator and a gifted ball handler. Tyson can also get the job done on the defensive end.
