As competition continues to heat up, many players have shown why they should be considered among the best in the state and many teams are truly beginning to look like they have hit their stride and are ready to make a run at the whole thing. Continue reading for a look at some of the most recent microupdates from various levels and areas across the great state of Idaho.
Coeur d’Alene vs. Moscow: Coeur d’Alene was able to secure a non-conference victory over Moscow thanks to a hot shooting night from outside, as well as some great free-throw shooting percentages and defensive efforts in the fourth quarter. Coeur d’Alene was led by a 23 point performance from Steven Burgess Steven Burgess 5'11" | PG Coeur d'Alene | 2023 State ID who knocked down 3 three’s as well. Tugg Wellsandt also knocked down 3 triples on his way to a 10 point night. Rounding out the double-digit scorers for Coeur d’Alene, Logan Orchard was able to contribute 10 points as well. On the other side of the ball, Moscow played well and had a strong group effort led by 20 points from Bryden Brown who scored in a variety of ways in order to keep Moscow close. He was also helped by 17 points from Taylor Strong who shot the ball well and 14 points from Jamari Simpson who did a great job of bullying his way to the rim and scoring with ease.
Mullan vs. Kootenai: Mullan walked away with a sizable victory over Kootenai thanks to a strong defensive performance and an impressive shooting night from some of their guards. In the first conference game for both teams, Mullan and Kootenai both looked hungry to make a solid impression in the first few games of the conference season. Mullan was led by Luke Trogdon scoring 23 points while also going 7-8 from the line. He was constantly in the lane and driving fearlessly to the basket. Their double-digit scoring was rounded out by 12 points from Floyd Nelson Floyd Nelson 6'0" | SG Mullan | 2023 State ID . Kootenai was led by an 80% shooting night from Griffin Hysell, who scored 8 points, but they struggled to find their footing throughout the game.
