I was able to attend 2 great games. The first on 12/7/21 was between Centerach and North Bablylon. The second was between Patchogue Medford and Eastport South Manor on 12/9/21.

12/7/21 - @ Centereach vs North Babylon, (North Babylon 52 - Centereach 44)

North Babylon:

PG - Junior - 5’9 - [player_tooltip player_id="1221847" first="Patrick" last="Washington"] #5

[player_tooltip player_id="1221847" first="Patrick" last="Washington"] is a complete floor general and "do it all" type guard for the bulldogs. He plays with great pace, handles the ball very well, keeping his head up at all times, and is a willing and effective passer. Washington played the entire game for North Babylon and came up with 6 rebounds, 3 steals, scored 17 points, and dished out 6 assists. He only had a couple of turnovers giving him a 3-1 assist to turnover ratio, which for a primary ball handler who never checked out, is a great performance. Patrick was able to score both inside and out hitting 3 three-point shots with the rest of his points coming from drives to the basket. Washington has a full summer left to develop and refine his skills plus another full season of high school basketball to exercise those skills. He is someone Long Island basketball fans should keep their eye on.

PG/SG - Senior - 5’8 - Daivon Lofton #3

Daivon Lofton was the other primary scorer for North Babylon. He scored 14 points, had 3 steals, and was able to score from all three levels from the field: inside, mid-range, and outside. Lofton posseses a tight handle and displayed good decision-making when bringing the ball up the floor as well as when he was on the wing.

Centereach

F/C - Senior - 6’5 - Ryan Jenkins

Ryan Jenkins anchired the middle and the high post for Centereach. Jenkins had 11 points and 8 rebounds plus 2 steals of his own. Jenkins showed a pretty good ability to handle the ball at the top of the key and high post area as well as being able to score on the block. He has a good touch around the rim and even dove on the floor several times for loose balls. He plays with grit and toughness inside the paint. If Jenkins were to improve on his footwork and lateral movement, he could become a very effective college prospect.

G - Junior - 6’2 - Will Kiernan

Kiernan was the primary scorer for Centereach, finishing with 16 points. He showed a great ability to drive the ball and score effectively from euro steps. All of his points came from drives and put-backs, Kiernan is a fluid athlete with a good touch close to the basket. He is a really good prospect with a lot of "upside". He should continue to work on his ball handling and his outside shot.

12/9 @Patchogue Medford High School vs Eastport South Manor (Patchogue 61 - 58 Eastport)

PG - Junior - Jason Deabreu - 5’11

Deabreu is a very skilled ballhandler and scorer. He finished the game with 17 points, hitting four 3 point field goals in this contest. Deabreu, who faced a matchup zone most of the game, showed great poise and utilized ball fakes effectively. This is a sign of a mature player who thinks ahead of the game. He also showed a good nose for the ball as well by having 2 steals and rebounds. Deabreu is certainly a player to watch. He has the remainder of this season, the off-season, and his senior year to continue to evolve as one of the more skilled point guards on Long Island.

C - Senior - Aidan Woods - 6’8

Woods displayed a good ability to catch the ball in the post and has very good hands, something that’s extremely valuable for a post player/center. He is also skilled in passing the ball effectively in the backcourt, getting the ball to the guards when Eastport full-court pressed. Woods hit 3/4 of his foul shots and has a soft touch as well. He had 9 points and 9 rebounds and also had a steal and a block. Woods has the capability to reach another level of play given his solid footwork, soft hands and good touch. If he is able to add a drop step or reverse pivot move to this repertoire he could become a very coveted prospect.

Eastport

G - Senior - 6’0 - [player_tooltip player_id="1047072" first="Justin" last="Turner"]

Turner had a dominant performance in this game, scoring 30 points, including three 3 point field goals, as well as 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Turner has the ability to slash to the basket and hit the outside shot. He possesses a strong ability to handle the ball and has a quick first step. Turner plays on the wing for the Sharks and has been their primary scorer all season long. He is a very aggressive and seasoned player, Turner has been listed on a Top 100 Varsity Basketball Players on Long Island list published by Newsday and is a talented combo guard.

G/F - Senior - 6’3 - Allen Flore

Flore, players the big man role on an undersized Eastport team. He also possesses the ability to play the forward and guard roles. Allen hit two 3 point shots and had 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. He utilized ball fakes well and displays a strong ability to use pivots effectively on drives to the basket. Flore would have to be a wing player in college. He has the raw talent to become a more polished player.
