I stopped by Coconut Creek High School for Westminster Academy @ East Coweta (GA). The game was part of the Sunshine State Basketball Explosion hosted by Charles Hendrix. The Indians would defeat the Lions in overtime on a last second 3-pointer by Samuel Moss. From my perspective, it was a difficult shot that he canned to send East Coweta back to Georgia happy.

Samuel Moss - East Coweta

2022 Samuel Moss will be a special player at the next level. The 6-foot-3 guard scored 22 points and knocked down four 3-pointers. Moss has great extension off his outside shot and is a tremendous leaper. I thought his athleticism was most evident around the defensive glass. Moss can get up and grab boards or protect the rim and block shots off his bounce. He played tough defense down the stretch and ultimately made the biggest shot of the night. Per latest information, he was averaging 14.4 points per game. He holds an offer from New Orleans, Boston College and Oklahoma State.

[player_tooltip player_id="820279" first="Austen" last="Colton"] - East Coweta

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="820279" first="Austen" last="Colton"] finished with 17 points and hit three 3-pointers. The 5-foot-9 guard has a compact frame and used it effectively to attack the rim. I like Colton’s handle and burst when driving to the cup. Per information, he holds a 3.5 GPA. 6-foot-8 forward [player_tooltip player_id="983506" first="Delrecco" last="Gillespie"] was big down the stretch and finished with 14 points. Gillespie used his size and length for a big bucket around [player_tooltip player_id="709227" first="Jaylen" last="Carey"] to send the game into overtime. He is committed to Kent State.

[player_tooltip player_id="709227" first="Jaylen" last="Carey"] - Westminster Academy

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="709227" first="Jaylen" last="Carey"] was his usual dominant self with 26 points and at least 11 boards. In addition, he blocked or altered multiple shots. The 6-foot-9 forward powered his way around the low block using his mass. Carey backed down [player_tooltip player_id="983506" first="Delrecco" last="Gillespie"] often and finished right at the rim. On defense, he did a nice job maintaining his ground and being patient. I would add that Carey looks better from the free-throw line. Overall, his offensive footwork and post moves look pure.

[player_tooltip player_id="1301705" first="Alexander" last="Lloyd"] - Westminster Academy

2025 [player_tooltip player_id="1301705" first="Alexander" last="Lloyd"] has so many moves when attacking the rim. The 6-foot-4 guard is a dart down the lane and can finish in traffic. Lloyd makes acrobatic layups look easy with either hand. He just has another burst that others do not have. Lloyd finished with 28 points and a pair of 3-pointers. He holds an offer from Florida Gulf Coast with much more to come.
