Five unsigned and under the radar shooters in the class of 2022

With the WIAA high school season fully underway, these five players have proven their ability to score from behind the three-point line on a regular basis.

[player_tooltip player_id="1208113" first="Nate" last="Harding"] (2022) 6-1 Chelan is scoring 21 points over the first eight games. He has improved his ability to play off the ball. By being able to score off the catch as well as off the dribble, he has become a match-up nightmare. Harding has nailed 32 three-point shots in just 8 games and is shooting it from beyond the line at 35%. He also has 28 assists for the up-tempo Goats of Chelan. Harding is quite young for his class and will still be 17 when he graduates this spring.

Treyvon Bierlink (2022) 6-3 Quincy is taller and longer and somehow has more range than he had in the summer. The long-armed, 3-point bomber is also adept at blocking shots and uses his massive wing span to deflect passes. He has the Quincy Jackrabbits undefeated in the Caribou Trail League and exploded for 41 points against second place Chelan. He has averaged 25 points and 8 rebounds while shooting 32% from behind the three-line. He consistently gets to the free throw line and nails 82% from behind the stripe.

Both Harding and Bierlink are dedicated basketball players who will be assets at the next level. Both are capable of being starters as freshmen at most D3 schools. Any NWAC (JuCo) school looking for instant offense and a player to stretch the defense would be wise to offer these two. And since three point shooting is such a premium, GNAC (D2) coaches are also interested in these players.

[player_tooltip player_id="1262750" first="Nick" last="Strecker"] (2022) 6-1 combo guard Manson. Strecker is another shooter off to a great start! What was reported on Strecker during the summer has been the case this winter. He has catch and shoot skills that translate to the next level. He is averaging 30 points after six games. Strecker loves the three point shot and is a volume shooter. He also understands how to use the scouting report on him, to his advantage. Defenders must respect his willingness to launch from deep and Strecker can use pump fakes off the catch and hesitations off the dribble to get to the basket. The right handed shooter is more likely to attack with his left but once he gets close to the basket, he can finish with which either hand is most advantageous. He has also been getting six rebounds and three steals.

Dirk Plakinger (2022) 6-4 W.F. West (Centralia) Plakinger has a tremendous feel for when to drive and when to shoot. The two foot jumper is always on balance and knows how to play fast and slow. He is sneaky athletic. His long strides are enough to get a step on a defender and his effective pump fakes and high shooting pocket allow him to readily get clearance for his shots. He is averaging 19 points per game, six rebounds, and is hitting 38% of his three point shots. He can also play the high post and crashes the offensive boards with regularity. He has a handful of traffic dunks including a two hand, put back dunk off two feet in a crowd.

[player_tooltip player_id="931316" first="Chase" last="Collins"] (2022) 5-11 Adna The sharpshooter has been absolutely blistering the nets. He is shooting 43% from the three point line, 90% on 2 point field goals, and hit eight threes in a single game! He has been averaging 14 points, 3 rebounds, two assists and two steals for the 7-1 Pirates.
