Instead of simply talking about the very best players in the state, though some fit that category, these are some players that are just off to especially good starts to their respective seasons. Let’s dive right in.
Colin Comer Colin Comer 6'4" | SG Greensburg | 2022 State IN (Greensburg H.S. 2022)
Comer is stuffing the stat sheet at Greensburg this season averaging 20 points, 4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.3 steals to lead the Pirates to a 3-0 record. The athletic guard has proven himself as one of the better players in the southeastern pocket of the state early on this season.
Cooper Farrall Cooper Farrall 6'5" | SF Culver Academy | 2023 State IN (Culver Academy 2023)
This 6’5″ wing is off to a great start shooting the basketball. He has developed into one of the best shooters in Northern Indiana while leading Culver Academy to a 4-1 record. Farrall is averaging a team best 21.2 points per game. Making a strong case for the Junior All-Star team.
Hagen Knepp Hagen Knepp 6'4" | SF Barr-Reeve | 2022 State IN (Barr-Reeve H.S. 2022)
Fresh off of a state championship season, graduation hit the Vikings pretty hard and it was to be determined just how good they would be this season. Despite a lopsided loss to Class 2A #2 Central Nobles, Barr-Reeve is off to an impressive 4-2 start including a win at Bloomington South. This team is once again among the favorites in 1A thanks in large part to Knepp who is averaging 19.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Christian Nunn Christian Nunn 6'3" | SF L'anse Creuse North | 2022 State IN (Crispus Attucks H.S. 2022)
It has been an up and down season for Attucks so far as they uncharacteristically sit at 3-4 after three weeks of basketball. However, 6’4″ wing Nunn has seamlessly made the transition from Liberty Christian to the 4A level. Nunn is averaging 20.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game to lead the way for the Tigers this season.
Billy Smith Billy Smith 6'7" | SF Brebeuf Jesuit | 2022 State IN (Brebeuf Jesuit H.S. 2022)
Expectations were high entering the season for Brebeuf Jesuit and their star Miami (OH) signee Billy Smith Billy Smith 6'7" | SF Brebeuf Jesuit | 2022 State IN . However, he has been excellent thus far with outstanding 50/45/92 shooting splits. The 6’7″ wing is averaging a team leading 20.8 points per game. At this point he is all but a lock for the Indiana All-Star team as the Braves appear to be the best team in Class 3A.
