East Carter defeated Portageville 51-49 in the championship game in a rematch of last year’s final, which was won by Portageville.
Preston Turner 6’5 East Carter: The 2022 Truman State recruit was the MVP of the tournament after leading the Redbirds to the championship. He scored 31 points in the semifinals against Doniphan and 21 points in the championship game against Portageville. He was a bucket at all three levels throughout the tournament, plus he delivered big baskets in key situations whenever his team was challenged.
Ethan Jones Ethan Jones 6'2" | SG Branson | 2022 State MO 6’2” Doniphan: The talented shooting guard scored 20 points in the game I watched against East Carter in the semifinals. He was the top perimeter shooter in the tournament. He made five 3-pointers with a couple of them coming from well past the 3-point line. He also had a nice shot off the glass on a short jumper.
Jabryson Rand 6’1” Portageville: An athletic wing player who plays much bigger than his actual size. He’s physically strong and he has a high motor. He attacks the basket well and finishes strong in traffic against contact. He is also a very active rebounder who gets on the glass at both ends.
D’Angelo Austin 6’3” Malden: An athletic forward who had a big performance in the victory over Doniphan in the third-place game. He scored a game-high 19 points. He has a nice touch around the basket as well as nice 15-footer from the baseline.
Kelan Bills 6’0 Portageville: An athletic wing player who excels at slashing into the lane for buckets. He is strong when he was operating on the baseline and he has a quick second and third jump on the offensive boards.
Caleb Plunkett 5’10” Clarkton: A very good combo guard who can really shoot the basketball from 3-point range. His pace is good and he moves very well without the basketball.
