Happy Holidays! All they want in the cornhusker state for Christmas every year is for the student-athletes to take their education seriously and leave it all on the floor. That's exactly what's been going on leading up to week 4. In this week I was able to scout the game between the Beatrice Orangemen and the Skutt Catholic Skyhawks. The opening round of the classic Metro Holiday Tournament began as well and I will point out key performances that are notable.
Beatrice vs Skutt Catholic 12-21-21
The Skutt Skyhawks hosted a matchup against the Beatrice Orangemen in week 4 before Christmas break. Skutt and Beatrice are a part of the Nebraska Class B District. Both teams are elite programs in their districts so this game was important for both. Beatrice was ranked the #1 team in Nebraska before this matchup but they would fall to the Skyhawks 49-40 and receive their first loss of the season. It was a pretty tight game overall. Both teams are very disciplined on offense (Class B overall). They swung the ball around the arc and waited for the best shot possible. Skutt would outscore Beatrice by one or two buckets the first thru the third quarter. That was enough to hold off Beatrice's 4th quarter comeback attempt. Beatrice would win the 4th quarter led by Nebraska standout [player_tooltip player_id="982463" first="Elliot" last="Jurgens"]. He had the best game amongst all the players on the court. He was able to show he can create his own shot off the dribble and with a hand in his face. He looked like a real star in the loss to the Skyhawks. He left me with the feeling he can play for a program that's disciplined or one that just runs.
Notable Performers from Week 4

[player_tooltip player_id="890579" first="Luke" last="Lindenmeyer"] Papillion-Lavista Monarchs (Forward)
Luke is a Nebraska Cornhusker Football commit that plays basketball like he could play for the Husker basketball team too. He has great size, hustle, and skill. In week 4 they played against Nebraska standout [player_tooltip player_id="1031437" first="Mason" last="Strong"] and the Omaha North Vikings. North had no one who could guard Luke or keep this incredible athlete off the glass either. He finished with 23 points and 16 rebounds (big double-double) in the tournament game win.
[player_tooltip player_id="890580" first="Daniel" last="Brocaille"] Papillion-Lavista South (Forward)
Daniel had a big game in the 54-53 loss to the Central Eagles he had 21 points, 11 rebounds, and went 6 for 7 from the free-throw line (86%). He's had some big games this season and is improving his game consistently.
Lam Kuang Bryan High School Bears (Forward)
Lam has been on an offensive terror all season. He had 4 points in his first game this season and since then it's been 20+ every night. in week 4 they faced the state champion Millard North Mustangs and he played like any other game, tough! He scored 21 points against the Mustangs in a 52-50 loss. He is a pure scorer. Lam is 6'7" and 215 lbs. He is one of Nebraska's best-kept secrets and new on the recruiting radar.
[player_tooltip player_id="1013207" first="Tate" last="Odvody"] Omaha Westside Warriors

16 points and 7 rebounds in the 86 to 51 week 4 tournament win against the Benson Bunnies.

[player_tooltip player_id="1199906" first="Casey" last="O'Malley"] Creighton Prep Junior Jays

Scored 21 points off 8 for 8 shooting. 5 for 5 from downtown! He looked like a human flame thrower in the 52-47 tournament win against the Millard West Wildcats.

Click the link to see some of Jurgens's highlights against Skutt Catholic

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CYCPkwGoY0z/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
[gallery columns="1" link="file" size="large" ids="1355153,1355159"]
