Week three has arrived and departed. There were some important games this past weekend, especially for teams looking to climb the ranks. In this article, I will inform you about the players and teams that I was able to observe that brought the heat in week 3 of the 2021-2022 Nebraska High School Boys Basketball season.

Beatrice Orangemen

The Orangemen are coached by Clark Ribble. After three weeks of play, Beatrice has currently been ranked the #1 basketball program in Nebraska. They faced off against the Platteview (Springfield) Trojans and Elkhorn North. In the first week three match-up against the Trojans, Beatrice was able to weather the storm from Nebraska standout [player_tooltip player_id="1018738" first="Connor" last="Millikan"] and win by double digits. Beatrice was outscored 14 to 2 in the first quarter and it seemed as if the Wolves would take advantage of a 2 point quarter from the Orangemen. Beatrice would flip the script and outscore the opposing team 19 to six in the second period, 14 to nine in the 3rd, and 16-12 in the final period for a 51 to 41 Orangemen victory. Beatrice will face Skutt Catholic in their next match-up.

Millard North Mustangs

Millard North is still the real deal. They have got off to the start they expected to this year. In week three they faced off against Omaha South and Lincoln East. In the first contest against South, the Mustangs were able to keep the Packers in check for a 68 to 53 victory. [player_tooltip player_id="1131121" first="Neal" last="Mosser"] would be astronomical in this win. He went 7 for 11 from downtown to solidify the most aggressive three-point assault so far this year. On top of 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. This is why Neal is ranked #1 guard for 2024 graduates in the cornhusker state. [player_tooltip player_id="1018812" first="David" last="Harmon"] would also leave a signature stamp scoring 16 points and snagging 10 rebounds for a double-double. He also added six assists. Crieghton Bluejay commit [player_tooltip player_id="787647" first="Jasen" last="Green"] seemed quiet but definitely wasn’t. Green had 14 points off six for eight shooting from the field, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks. It’s safe to say that Mosser, Harmon, & Green were the reason why the Mustangs were able to hold off the Packers. The second contest against Lincoln East would end up looking like a close game but the Mustangs would open up with a 27 point first quarter while the Spartans contributed only 10. Lincoln East would win the rest of the quarters by 4 points or less but, that explosive first quarter from the Mustangs was a bit too much to overcome. [player_tooltip player_id="787647" first="Jasen" last="Green"] would lead the Mustangs with 18 points, nine rebounds, and 4 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id="1018812" first="David" last="Harmon"] added another double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists/2steals. [player_tooltip player_id="1131121" first="Neal" last="Mosser"] had 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Millard North will take on the Bryan Bears in their next game.

Other Notable Performers From Week 3

[player_tooltip player_id="890586" first="Lam" last="Kuany"]

Lam had 30 points and ten rebounds in the loss to Lincoln Northeast! He followed that up with a 25 point eight-rebound performance against Omaha Northwest to end his week three journey. He’s been putting up big numbers all year too!

[player_tooltip player_id="1152113" first="Jacob" last="Martin"]

[player_tooltip player_id="1152113" first="Jacob" last="Martin"] from Omaha South had an amazing game against Millard North. Martin is a shifty combo guard that plays the game with terrific energy. He scored a very good-looking 16 points and looked like a star player against the returning state champions.

[player_tooltip player_id="890580" first="Daniel" last="Brocaille"]

The 6’5" 210-pound senior guard/forward came up big in the week 3 win against Omaha Central. Scoring 22 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in the 64 to 62 victory over the "was" undefeated eagles. Daniel is a great basketball player with a mature body. He will transition over to college basketball seamlessly. Brocaille has already committed to Morningside but as the season progresses I’m sure higher divisions will attempt a steal.

[player_tooltip player_id="1300952" first="T’Andre" last="Perkins"]

T’Andre was huge for Omaha South against Lincoln North Star in week 3. Perkins had 18 points and nine rebounds, and the game-winning block to help lead his team to a 2-1 start in district play. Keep Perkins in mind because he is the type of player that does it all, standing close to 6’6".

[player_tooltip player_id="890577" first="Cale" last="Jacobsen"]

Cale played strong, athletic. and team oriented. He only scored 11 points in week 3 but that’s because he played a solid unselfish game in the win against the Milford Eagles in week 3. He is a tough-nosed combo guard that can put solid pressure on offenses.
