Ogden was led by their D1 guard as they won 53-37. Here are our thoughts on the game in 5 Best: St. Joseph Ogden vs Bismark Henning/Rossville Alvin!
Ty Pence Ty Pence 6'4" | SG St. Joseph Ogden | 2023 State IL (St. Joseph Ogden – 2023)
Pence was the reason we were watching this game and after a bit of a slow start he brought his A game the last three quarters. Good size on the perimeter and athletic pop for the two guard spot. It was obvious throughout the game that his athleticism was head and shoulders above everyone else on the floor. Clean looking jumper which he drained off the catch, flairs, and crisp pull ups off hard drives where he elevated on a dime getting above his defenders reach for scores. Showed some burst getting downhill with a head of steam along with change of direction at the rim converting difficult shots. Most electric play of the evening was a block, rebound, and coast to coast take for a bucket. Rebounded well for his position and was an effective defender. Competed on that end moving his feet and blocked multiple shots. Finished with an efficient 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Looked every bit the part of an impactful mid-major prospect!
Logan Smith (St. Joseph Ogden – 2024)
Smith is the other standout for SJO. Sophomore point guard is deceptively quick off the bounce and made several nifty finishes at the cup. All of his points came in the paint or at the charity stripe as he registered 10 points.
Evan Ingram and Andrew Beyers Andrew Beyers 6'1" | SG Saint Joseph-Ogden | 2022 IL (St. Joseph Ogden – 2022)
Couple of small college seniors here. Ingram is a 6’0” wing who shot it well from distance and was a gritty rebounder. Finished with 8 points. Beyers was crafty off the bounce and a nice defender at 6’1”. He had 6 points.
Brett Meidel Brett Meidel 6'4" | SF Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin | 2023 IL (Bismark Henning/Rossville Alvin – 2023)
Meidel is a prospect we saw some during the summer and were intrigued by. The 6’3” junior guard has solid strength and was at his best putting it on the deck for a couple of tough finishes along with getting to the line for 6 points.
