Region 3-AAAA Preview

Can the Stallions repeat as Class 4A State Champions? Who will stand in the way in Region 3-AAAA? Read more in this article right here on your source for basketball coverage. 

Prep Hoops Predictions: 

1.South Pointe HS (Rock Hill) – The Stallions and Head Coach Melvin Watson will look to make another run this coming season. The Stallions finished (15-5) last season and Class 4A State Champions with a victory over Hilton Head Island. 

2.Catawba Ridge HS – The Copperheads finished (7-8) overall last season. 

3.Lancaster HS – The Bruins will rely on Grayson Kirk Grayson Kirk 6'2" | CG Lancaster | 2023 State SC to provide leadership with a very young roster. 

4.York Comprehensive HS – The Cougars will do its best to play into the playoffs this season after finishing (5-10) last year. 

5.Indian Land HS (Fort Mill) – The Warriors will need to improve on a (2-11) last season. 

Quan Peterson Quan Peterson 6'2" | PG South Pointe | 2022 State SC (2022) – South Pointe HS – Prep Hoops Preseason Region Player of the Year (pictured on front)

Peterson is headed off to Syracuse next season to play football for the Orange. Quan has been a solid guard over the years for the Stallions with his play. Quan plays the game in the same mode at all times under-control. Peterson never looks to get too fancy or cute while on the floor. Quan makes winning plays to help your team win games and it showed last February with a Class 4A State Championship. 

JJ Hicklin JJ Hicklin 6'3" | SF South Pointe | 2022 State SC (2022) – South Pointe HS 

Hicklin can be a bit of a mismatch on the floor with his frame at times. JJ plays Defensive End in the fall for the rich tradition Stallions football program. Hicklin has great set of hands and does a good job of carving out space or popping out for a short jumper. 

Jamar Williams Jamar Williams 6'5" | PF South Pointe | 2022 NC (2022) – South Pointe HS 

Jamar is not overly polished on the offensive of the floor but sure does a deliver a ton of effort while on the floor. Williams plays best down  in the post and close to the cup. Jamar is not flashy with his play but really brings a blue-collar attitude to the floor. 

Carter Hendrick Carter Hendrick 6'5" | SF Catawba Ridge | 2022 State SC (2022) – Catawba Ridge HS 

Hendrick a slender-sleek forward has the ability to knockdown shots on the perimeter. Carter has a nice stroke when he at times to set his feet. Hendrick does a good job of extending the defense with his deep range shooting ability.

Grayson Kirk Grayson Kirk 6'2" | CG Lancaster | 2023 State SC (2023) – Lancaster HS 

Grayson will look to lead a young group of Bruins this season with some key players moving on. Kirk has a knack to score the ball and he did just that this past grassroots season with the York County Legends. 

Zyan Hager Zyan Hager 6'1" | CG Catawba Ridge | 2024 State SC (2024) – Catawba Ridge HS 

Hager showed some good flashes at times and a great deal of confidence last summer when Prep Hoops saw him play. Hager looks to be part of the future plans for the Copperheads moving forward into the future.
