These two teams played a high-scoring game. Oldsmar Christian got the win, displaying a core of talented wings and guards. They push the tempo, space the floor, and get in the paint. American Collegiate played a tight game getting another big performance from Jordan Burks. Unfortunately, an injury kept the bench short but didn’t slow down an offense scoring 95+ a game. Let’s get into this game’s standouts.

[player_tooltip player_id="1060151" first="Braylon" last="Jackson"] made his Oldsmar Christian debut with an efficient 24 points. His size and athleticism at the combo guard spot make him stand out from the crowd. He scored on all three levels, showing off deep range, good elevation on his dribble pull-up, and the body to handle contact at the rim. On a few possessions he initiated the offense, but at this point offers more as a scorer than a playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id="1065417" first="Willie" last="Patterson"] is a burly 6’6 forward. He thrived hitting shots below the rim and scoring in the paint off straight line drives. The senior also chipped in multiple threes off the catch. Patterson rebounded well and did his best to slow down Jordan Burks with physical defense. His playstyle and size make him a bit of a tweener.

[player_tooltip player_id="955596" first="RJ" last="Morgan"] is another 2023 guard, seeing a rise in his stock. He’s a speedster with the ball in his hands unleashing transition playmaking and an ability to beat defenders in the halfcourt. He’s a pesky defender whose foot speed and quick hands allow him to play tight defense. As often as he gets to the paint for kick outs, he may have lead playmaker potential when it’s just him in the backcourt.

At 6’6 Patric Prince gives Oldsmar another shooter to kick to. He’s shown the ability to cover every perimeter position this preseason. Prince plays within the offense and has a knack for knocking down threes from the wing and corner.

[player_tooltip player_id="709234" first="Joel" last="Harrison"] is an athletic slashing guard. He’s a decisive driver that can use hesitation dribbles to shed defenders. He has good pop on his finishes. Harrison hit several catch and shoot threes during the game. He also shoots well off the dribble. The 2023 guard currently holds interest from Mercer, Dayton, and Samford.

[player_tooltip player_id="956803" first="Treyshawn" last="Howard"] scored in double digits without having a play called for him. He finished plays with layups off second chance opportunities and drives. He makes hustle plays and rebounds well for his position.

[player_tooltip player_id="1163378" first="Javen" last="Harrison"] is a solid 2024 point guard. He sets the offense without turning the ball over for a fast paced offense. Harrison uses the threat of his drive to dish out to his shooters. Once teams overplay this pass, he finds a hole to score at the rim. He competes both ways and doesn’t force the flow of the game.

Mayen Ayuel started the game by making three consecutive shots from deep. He finished the game with 20 points and 4 three pointers. The 6’6 guard showed his ability to make shots off the catch and off the dribble. He scored in the midrange with floaters and pull-up jumpers. Ayuel had several assists putting his passing finding cutter and shooters across the court.

Jordan Burks is on fire to start the season. He scored 41 in the season opener and followed it up with another 41 in a close loss. Burks has great size for the wing being listed between 6’7 and 6’9 depending on the source. He can create for himself as both a pull-up shooter and driver. His primary weapon is his jumper that has range out to the college three and a high release point. As a driver, the 2023 forward takes long steps to change direction on his way to the basket that puts defenders on their heels. The forward has a knack for drawing fouls on his drive, where he scores through contact leading to his 10 appearances at the free throw line. He has a tight handle and changes direction well for someone his size. Burks has a nice face up game out of the post, making him a mismatch at this level.

Jaiye Famakinwa is a muscular 2024 prospect that competes on both sides of the ball. He may only be 5’6 but his toughness, physicality, and quickness make him a pesky defender against bigger guards. On offense, he gets in the paint off quick moves and finishes through contact. Famakinwa connected on both his three point attempts. He made several high level passes, threading the needle for assists in transition.

Lamareon McFarlane took a second to get the feel of the game, but still impacted the game as a rebounder and defender. He’s a physical 6’5 forward that scored off dives to the basket and cleaning up plays. McFarlane’s a good athlete with a strong body that sets hard screens. He had two impressive blocks from weak side rotations. If the junior can chain more of his flashes together, he’ll be a prospect that can play several roles, especially when his jumper is falling.

Ahmad Cidi-Jalloh is ACA’s drink stirrer. He doesn’t turn the ball over, just sets the table for his teammates to finish plays. His biggest contributions came in big moments. If Oldsmar strung together a run, he’d get a steal. Late in the game, he was a steady hand that controlled the pace of the offense.

[player_tooltip player_id="1261870" first="Brandon" last="Noythanongsay"] had a quietly productive game. As an athletic 6’6 wing, he made perimeter shots and knocked down pull-ups. He’s a smart passer that advances the ball to open teammates, making him third in assist on the team. The 2023 prospect has a nice handle in space and makes tough shots through contact.
