[player_tooltip player_id="1046355" first="Parker" last="Nelson"] (2022) |5-11 G| West Fargo

He made the All-State team as a running back. In basketball, Parker was an important part of the Packer State Championship team last year. Nelson is a top-notch defender. Parker is a hard worker and a grinder. He gives great hustle and he will wear out opposing players. Nelson will be one of the best on-ball defenders in the EDC this year. Parker and the Packers will be looking for a return to the State Tournament in March.

[player_tooltip player_id="812219" first="Carson" last="Hegerle"] (2022) |6-3 G| West Fargo

He made the All-State team as a wide receiver. Hegerle was All-State in basketball last season and a State Champion. This fall, Hegerle committed to NDSU for football. Hegerle will be one of the best athletes on the court this winter. He is a dynamic scorer that is deadly off the bounce. He is electric in transition and Carson can finish above the rim. Hegerle can be a great defender and an excellent rebounder. Expect Carson to perform as an All-State player again this basketball season.

11AA First Team Defense

[player_tooltip player_id="1141526" first="Karter" last="Menz"] (2023) |6-5 F| West Fargo Sheyenne

He made the All-State team as a defensive lineman (DE). Menz helped the Mustangs win the State Championship. In hoops, Menz is long, strong, and athletic and he is no stranger to dunking. Karter scores the bulk of his point in the paint and around the basket. Menz does a nice job rebounding, especially on the offensive end. Look for Karter to play an important role for the Mustangs this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046360" first="Aaron" last="Grubb"] (2022) |6-3 F| Mandan

He made the All-State team as a defensive lineman. In basketball, Grubb does the little things that make the Braves a better team. Aaron will be a double-double machine this season and one of the best frontcourt players in the WDA. His physicality is impressive and Grubb does not shy away from contact. He scores most of his points around the basket but he can also score with mid-range jumpers. Expect Grubb to be an All-WDA player.

11AA Second Team

[player_tooltip player_id="1050247" first="Raymond" last="Brown"] (2023) |5-11 G| Fargo Davies

Football positions-WR/DB. Brown is a special athlete that is lightning quick. Since last year Ray has improved his ball-handling and his defense. He has the potential to be one of the best on-ball defenders in the state. Brown has a smooth stepback move, an ankle-breaking crossover, and a quick jumper. He is also a hustler that is full of energy. Look for Brown and the Eagles to be a top team in Class A.

11A First Team Offense

[player_tooltip player_id="1228094" first="Blake" last="Schafer"] (2022) |6-0 G| Wahpeton

He made the All-State team as a QB and Blake was the Outstanding Senior Athlete of the Year as well. In hoops this season, Blake is going to be an efficient scorer. He can get the job done off the dribble or with his pull-up game. Schafer is a smart and tough player. Much like the football season, Schafer is going to have a big year in basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046367" first="Nate" last="Fedorchak"] (2022) |6-1 G| St. Mary’s

He made the All-State team as a WR. In basketball, Nate is a buttery-smooth lefty shooter. He is going to crush it this year from beyond the arc. Nate also has a nice pull-up game. He is very good in transition and he has a nose for the ball on defense. Nate is going to have a monster season for the Saints. Fedorchak and the other Saints are planning to shoot the team into the State Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id="1138775" first="Caden" last="Kappes"] (2023) |6-1 PG| Wahpeton

He made the All-State team as a WR. Kappes had an unbelievable year catching the ball and he broke records at Wahpeton with a ton of touchdowns. In hoops, Caden will be a primary ball-handler for the Huskies. He will impact the game on the defensive side of the ball. Look for Kappes to do the little things for Wahp and to be a sure-handed guard. Caden will create for others and knock down open shots. He will also be able to score off the dribble. Kappes should come into the season full of confidence after his record-setting football season.

11A First Team Defense

[player_tooltip player_id="1046365" first="Devin" last="Beach"] (2022) |6-3 SG| Jamestown

He made the All-State team as a D-lineman. Devin helped lead the Blue Jays to a State Championship. Much like in football, Devin will be a playmaker in hoops. Beach is a great athlete. His length and athleticism will allow Devin to make plays around the basket and from the perimeter. Beach will be a very tough defender. Expect a big senior season from Devin.

[player_tooltip player_id="812222" first="Paine" last="Parks"] (2022) |6-3 SG| Grand Forks Red River

He made the All-State team as a linebacker. Parks has committed to UND for football. He might be the strongest basketball in the EDC this season. Parks is a beast! He is not all muscle, Parks is also skilled. He is a consistent shooter from 3-point land. Parks is even better in the pull-up game, especially when going left. He is a great finisher at the cup. Paine is also a top rebounder as a shooting guard. Parks will be looking to lead the Roughriders to the Big Dance in March.

[player_tooltip player_id="1135496" first="Adam" last="Kallenbach"] (2022) |6-0 G| Jamestown

He made the All-State team as a defensive back. Adam helped lead the Blue Jays to a State Championship. He is a smart player on the hardwood. Kallenbach will have the ball in his hands a ton and he will need to create for others. Adam will also need to put up points, which he can from all levels. As he steps into a bigger role this season, I expect Kallenbach to have a standout senior season.

11A Second Team

[player_tooltip player_id="1135484" first="Sam" last="Strandell"] (2022) |6-3 G| Grand Forks Central

Football position-DB. He has committed to UND for football. Sam is a big and athletic guard. He is a creator and a slasher and Sam will likely be the best player for Central this hoops season. He is an aggressive rebounder as a wing player and I would not be surprised if he averaged a double-double this season. Strandell is also and problematic and tough defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1161534" first="Drew" last="Hofstad"] (2024) |5-11 G| Devils Lake

Football positions-WR/DB. He is a gifted young athlete. Drew shot the ball very well this spring/summer and I expect more of that this winter. Hofstad will be one of the better 3-point shooters around. He is not just a shooter, Hofstad is unselfish and he is a gifted passer. Look for him to produce turnovers on the defensive side. Get out and watch this young player, he is the real deal.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046364" first="Ben" last="Heilman"] (2022) |6-0 G| Devils Lake

Football position-QB. Ben is a nice athlete. He is skilled at getting to the rim and he is also a good shooter. Look for Heilman to build off his success in football and to have a productive senior hoops season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1334664" first="Peder" last="Haugo"] (2024) |6-1 SG| Fargo North

Football position-RB. Haugo is a tough, aggressive, and athletic player. On offense, he plays downhill and he creates well off the bounce. His jump shot has improved since last year and he will score from the perimeter this season. Peder will never take a playoff and he competes for everything. He embraces contact and Haugo can finish through it. Peder is coming off a football injury, but he will be ready soon for a big hoops season.
