<p>It’s football playoff time! That means basketball season is about a month off. Basketball practices will be tipping off soon. So it’s time to start looking ahead to the season. Let’s start with a look at the top returners by class.</p>
<p>Underclassmen are common on the all-state teams at the 1A level. Seven non-seniors took up spots on the all-state teams in 1A Div. I.</p>
<p>Here are the top returners to 1A Div. I:</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="946252" first="Taylor" last="Cable"], 6-foot-1 forward, 2022, Ness City:</p>
<p>Cable was the only non-senior on the first team of 1A Div. I. His stats certainly put him among the best small school ballers in the state. He averaged 19.9 points and 14.3 boards. He got it done on the defensive end too, blocking 3.0 shots and committing 2.1 steals per game. Cable will be one of the best seniors in the state, and will lead a deep group of returners at Ness City.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="946251" first="Jaden" last="Boone"], 6-foot-3 forward, 2022, Quinter (pictured):</p>
<p>Boone steps to some tough competition with Team Buddy Buckets in the summer, where he demonstrates he can get it done regardless the level of talent. At 1A Div. 1, he’s one of the very best returners, having earned second-team all state last year. Last year he was good for 20.5 points and 10.3 boards per game.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1139930" first="Trever" last="Quaney"], 6-foot-8 center, 2022, Burlingame:</p>
<p>One of the biggest and most powerful paint presences in the small school ranks, Quaney will be dominant this year. He earned second-team honors by putting up 16.3 points and 11.9 boards per game.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1195606" first="Brady" last="Deges"], 5-foot-8 guard, 2022, South Gray:</p>
<p>Deges has done a lot of winning over the past few years, both on the court and on the gridiron. He’s a quick and heady point guard who opens things up for his teammates and knows how to lead.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1212167" first="Jordy" last="Dolloff"], 5-foot-10 guard, 2023, Wichita Classical:</p>
<p>Dolloff earned a lot of respect for his all around game last year, making third-team all state in the process He was just one of two sophomores to earn all-state in 1A Div. I. Dolloff is a stat sheet stuffer, with 12.8 points, 2.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 steals per contest.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1076408" first="Noah" last="Hastert"], 6-foot-7 forward, 2022, Cair Paravel:</p>
<p>The Topeka big man has been getting a lot of attention for football, but he’ll be ready to dominate on the hard wood again this winter. He can play in the paint and on the wing, and he gets his teammates the ball. As a junior he produced 15.5 points and 10.1 boards last season en route to third team 1A Div. I.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1146294" first="Jerrit" last="Norris"], 6-foot-4 forward, 2023, Troy:</p>
<p>Norris has averaged a triple double since he set foot on the varsity floor as a freshman. He joined Dolloff and Hastert on third-team all state by averaging 18.1 points and 10.1 rebounds as a sophomore.</p>
