I headed over to Hollywood to watch North Broward Prep face Chaminade-Madonna. The Eagles went on to win comfortably, 74-50.

Here are my observations...

[player_tooltip player_id="1060261" first="Guilherme" last="Tesch"] - North Broward Prep

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1060261" first="Guilherme" last="Tesch"] was the MVP of the game. The 6-foot-8 wing scored 22 points and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers. Moreover, his perimeter shots were connecting from Coconut Creek. Deep. I thought Tesch did a good job of putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim. He used his length and athleticism to score three or four times down the lane. In addition, Tesch has a good handle to bring the ball up the court. He added a few passes and rebounds in the victory. Tesch might be the Eagles’ best multi-faceted weapon.

[player_tooltip player_id="1055732" first="Reece" last="Randolph"] - Chaminade-Madonna

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1055732" first="Reece" last="Randolph"] led Chaminade-Madonna with 17 points. The 5-foot-9 guard had a strong first move while tucking the ball to his side on his way to the basket. The problem Randolph faced was the length of North Broward Prep when trying to get to the rim. Although, he is shifty and can leave you flat-footed with his stutter step. Randolph hit one 3-pointer on four or five attempts. I did see him make the extra pass when the Eagles’ defense condensed on him. Any bigger and Randolph could be a huge problem. One area I would like to see improved is on defense. I thought North Broward Prep caught Randolph and Chaminade-Madonna for a few easy buckets on outlets and in transition

[player_tooltip player_id="1065431" first="Michael" last="Kalina"] - North Broward Prep

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1065431" first="Michael" last="Kalina"] scored ten points in the victory. I thought the 6-foot-1 point guard played at a good pace and attacked the basket when necessary. Kalina made plays at the rim in the halfcourt or transition. I though his acceleration when going for a layup was fairly routine. Kalina also played good on-ball defense and showed toughness around the glass. He is more athletic with some get-up than you might think. Kalina appeared to slap at the ball off the glass on one of Chaminde-Madonna's layup attempts.

[player_tooltip player_id="829406" first="Maximus" last="Fuentes"] - North Broward Prep

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="829406" first="Maximus" last="Fuentes"] scored 12 points in the win. I thought the 6-3 shooting guard gave Chaminade-Madonna a lot of problems with his length in the backcourt. Fuentes moved well and put himself in good position. Overall, his frame and wingspan is solid for a two guard. Fuentes played smart and unselfish throughout the game.
