The Ohio high school basketball season is here so what better time to discuss who the top teams in each Division in the state are. We’ve already broke down Division’s I and II, but here’s Division III.

Cincinnati Taft: Taft comes into this season as the clear-cut favorite in Division III. With [player_tooltip player_id="867936" first="Rayvon" last="Griffith"], they have a star to lean on. [player_tooltip player_id="809611" first="Mekhi" last="Elmore"] will come into this season determined after being ineligible for last season’s final four run due to OHSAA transfer rules. With [player_tooltip player_id="1088811" first="Eian" last="Elmer"] transferring from Kentucky, Taft is loaded.

Lutheran East: Reload instead of rebuild is the motto for The Lue. After graduating a ton of senior talent, they brought it studs like [player_tooltip player_id="867939" first="Cody" last="Head"] and [player_tooltip player_id="922597" first="Nelson" last="Johnson"] and return [player_tooltip player_id="1138764" first="Jordan" last="Cannon"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1222354" first="Jesse" last="McCulloch"]. Lutheran East shouldn’t take much of a step down this season.

Columbus Africentric: [player_tooltip player_id="922605" first="Dailyn" last="Swain"] is one of the most talented players in Division III and after being forced to forfeit last season in the playoffs due to positive COVID cases, Africentric is out for revenge in 2021-22. This team has the athleticism and defensive pressure to give teams fits.

Colonel Crawford: With [player_tooltip player_id="1195157" first="Carter" last="Valentine"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1195102" first="Mason" last="Studer"], Colonel Crawford could be the top Division III team in NW Ohio. After a successful 2020-21 campaign, this seems like their year to make a deep run.

Ottawa-Glandorf: [player_tooltip player_id="1222349" first="Colin" last="White"] is back with a new look squad, but I was impressed with the Titans in the summer when I saw them. They’ve earned their strong reputation to hold a top spot in the pre-season.

Other teams to watch: Harvest Prep, Worthington Christian, Preble Shawnee, Lima Central Catholic, North Union, West Lafayette Ridgewood, Proctorville Fairland, New Middletown Springfield, Oberlin
