Carver E&S is building something down on 16th & Norris. They may not be among the usual names touted in the Philadelphia Public League, yet they're gearing up to take their respect against a tough schedule. The seven players below will be at the core of the run they plan to make this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1200787" first="Denzel" last="Figueroa"] | 6’5 W/F 2022

Denzel may play the “5” for Carver, but he’s far from an undersized big man. Because of his length and feel, Zel has what it takes to be a rim-protector, score in the paint, and make decisions on-ball. Where he really excels is defending on the perimeter. Figueroa relishes every opportunity to create havoc for wings, showing “you are who you can guard.” The PSAC, CIAA and other D2s are in the mix.

Taimar Stubbs | 5’11 G 2022

This kid plays at a different gear than anyone else. His sense of urgency shows up in his willingness to capitalize on the slightest offensive advantages. Taimar shoots it well from deep too. D3s are starting to take notice his recruiting will take off once they realize how much he can play with pace and make his teammates better.

Cerek Sargent-Thomas | 5’7 G 2022

Cerek pairs well with Taimar in that his primary role is to create for others. He uses his handle to take any crease you give him and turn it into a paint touch, collapsing the defense and generating open looks on the second side. Cerek is also a vocal leader on the court.

Ethan Lee | 6’1 F 2022

The potential class valedictorian impressed with his energy. In practice, Ethan doesn’t back down against Denzel or Nile. He plays hard, attacking the glass and finding opportunities to score. His role isn’t to be the focal point offensively, but what he brings to the team can swing games on any given night.

Nile Mosby | 6’4 F 2023

Transferring in from Neumann-Goretti, Nile adds size and strength to the Carver frontcourt. He knows exactly who he is on both ends of the floor. Mosby’s combination of power and athleticism on the block go hand-in-hand with Figuroa’s. And his knock-down free throw shooting hint at the potential to add range to his jumper.

Anthony Brown Jr | 6’2 G 2024

Ant is still scratching the surface of what he can be. Already proving to be a smart player with plus positional size, he’ll likely run the point for Carver next year. But for now, his ball movement and activity on defense are going to be crucial to the team’s success.

Dwayne Figueroa | 6’4 F 2024

Another sophomore, Dwayne is a promising forward on the roster. He sees the floor and passes well, and it looks like he has his older brother’s athleticism. His abilities just may not show up as much on the varsity level this year with Denzel, Ethan, and Nile ahead of him
