The 2023 class is filled with big-time talent, headlined by [player_tooltip player_id="850751" first="Dajuan" last="Wagner Jr"], [player_tooltip player_id="902732" first="Mackenzie" last="Mgbako"] and UNC commit [player_tooltip player_id="850752" first="Simeon" last="Wilcher"]. Transfers happen every year and several big-time players should make a big impact during their debut season with their team. Here are the top 2023 prospects set for a big season with their new team.

[player_tooltip player_id="850753" first="Akil" last="Watson"], 6’7 SF Roselle Catholic

Watson is one of the top wings in the class and should have an immediate impact with the Lions. The Don Bosco transfer has a nice release on his jumper and uses his size to shoot over smaller defenders. Watson can also score in the mid-range and put the ball on the floor. He is a strong rebounder and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Watson is a skilled wing prospect who will be asked to produce for a Roselle Catholic team with TOC aspirations.

[player_tooltip player_id="902756" first="Jadin" last="Collins"], 6’1 PG Rutgers Prep

Collins has had a strong summer and fall season for the Argonauts, which should carry over into the upcoming year. The Roselle Catholic transfer is explosive with the ball in his hands as he can finish strong above the rim and does not mind drawing contact. Collins has a good handle, which he uses to get into the lane to make plays. He has great instincts on the defensive end, leading to deflections and steals. Collins is a quick floor general who looks to lead the way for Rutgers Prep this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1269773" first="Geancarlo" last="Peguero"], 6’5 SF Gill St. Bernard’s

The Knights are one of the most talented teams in the state and they got even more talent with the addition of Peguero. The Puerto Rico native is an athletic wing who finishes with authority above the rim. Peguero attacks the basket strong and is capable of finishing through contact. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and has an underrated handle. Peguero picked up two offers over the summer and his list should grow as he gets comfortable with Gill St. Bernard’s offense.

[player_tooltip player_id="992525" first="Terrell" last="Pitts"], 6’4 SG St. Thomas Aquinas

Pitts is an intriguing prospect to watch as he joins a talented Trojan team. The former Bishop McDevitt guard is at his best attacking the basket as he can finish in a variety of ways and make layups through contact. Pitts is more than just a slasher as he can knock down open jumpers from deep and has a nice touch in the mid-range. He moves well off the ball and has the potential to defend both guard spots. Pitts and Seton Hall commit [player_tooltip player_id="787644" first="Jaquan" last="Harris"] create one of the more talented backcourts in Non-Public A for St. Thomas Aquinas.

[player_tooltip player_id="1269659" first="Babacar" last="Mbengue"], 7’0 C Olympus Prep

Mbengue’s stock has been rising since the summer and it should continue to go up as the season progresses. The 7’0 forward has a strong frame which he uses to create position down low. Mbengue runs the floor hard, creating easy dunks for him in transition. He is one of the top shot-blockers in the class and is a strong rebounder. Mbengue recently picked up an offer from Xavier and should receive many more offers as the season goes on.

Other Prospects to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id="1013069" first="Malachi" last="Johnson"], 6’0 PG Union

[player_tooltip player_id="902748" first="Hampton" last="Sanders"], 6’0 PG Lawrenceville

[player_tooltip player_id="1013074" first="Chris" last="Santner"], 6’10 PF St. Thomas Aquinas

Ladji Dembele, 6’8 PF St. Benedict’s Prep

Korbyn Samuels, 6’3 SG Patrick School
