The 250 Expo KC brought together some of the best players across Kansas and Missouri, giving them a chance to keep their skills sharp for the upcoming season.

There were a lot guys on hand who can fill it up, and the up-tempo action facilitated scoring.

But these five guys stood out as some of the top scorers at the Expo (in alphabetical order):

[player_tooltip player_id="891928" first="Mason" last="Belcher"], Team 3, 6-foot-8 forward, 2022, Maize:

It came as no surprise that Belcher was one of the top scorers at the Expo. He’s been filling it up all summer, and his length was tough to match on Sunday. He is tenacious about getting shots off in the lane, and he isn’t deterred when one of his shots misses the mark. He relentlessly chases his misses and scores a ton on second opportunities. He has bounce and releases his shot high above his head. He is wiry and capable of hitting off balance attempts.

[player_tooltip player_id="1300815" first="Jayse" last="Boatwright"], Team 5, 6-foot-1 guard, 2023, Shawnee Mission West:

Boatwright has a feathery touch from the perimeter. Defenses have to give him space because he can also put the ball on the floor and score through contact. He pushed the ball at high speed and got to the goal for some finishes that showed his toughness and fearlessness. Boatwright also scored some buckets by following missed shots.

[player_tooltip player_id="1300823" first="Trey" last="Buckner"], Team 7, 5-foot-11 guard, 2022, Wichita Trinity:

Buckner stood out among all the top scorers, because he was getting it done at every level. Buckner dropped a bunch of 3’s, showed a deft pull-up jumper, and also got to the goal. He showed nice ability to run off a screen, catch and shoot. The smooth point guard isn’t just a scorer, but he filled it up on Sunday. Watch for a big senior year from this player.

[player_tooltip player_id="891905" first="Xavier" last="Hall"], Team 2, 6-foot guard, 2022, Miege:

Hall just might have been the most impressive guard at the Expo, at least from an offensive standpoint. He wrecked defenses with his penetration and was a blur in the open court. Once in the lane, Hall drew a bunch of fouls when he wasn’t hitting his pull-up jumper or his floater. He showed off a step-back jumper too. Hall was just as impactful at the defensive end, turning steals into runouts.

[player_tooltip player_id="1080186" first="Will" last="Mlynek"], Team 10, 6-foot-9 center, 2023, Shawnee Mission South:

Mlynek took pleasure in floating on the perimeter and shooting from deep. But when he put his mind to setting up in the post and demanding the ball, he was just about unstoppable. His immense side and ability inside and out made him one of the toughest matchup problems at the Expo. He scored a ton of buckets, sometimes making it look easy.

[player_tooltip player_id="1080167" first="Jason" last="Rodriguez"], Team 1, 5-foot-11 guard, 2023, Harmon (pictured):

Occasionally overlooked for his play at Harmon, Rodriguez reminded everyone Sunday why he’s one of the very best guards in the 2023 class. With cool precision, Rodriguez dominated the games he was in, showing off ability to score in just about every fashion. He hit from deep, pulled up for jumpers on the move, broke down defenders to get to open spots, and created space with a nice step-back. Rodriguez just has a knack for creating easy shots for himself. Be sure to watch this guy the next two seasons.
