Throughout this month, I will be highlighting selected teams across South Florida. This article takes me to Miami Palmetto. The Panthers are led by head coach Alex Ordoqui. Miami Palmetto finished last season with a 14-8 record

First things first, the Panthers should be a top 5 team in Miami-Dade County. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="814912" first="Jimel" last="Lane"] (Mater Academy Charter) and [player_tooltip player_id="1055700" first="Braylon" last="Burbridge"] (Sagemont) transfer in to give this team added firepower. In addition, 6-foot-5 [player_tooltip player_id="546206" first="Anthony" last="Salazar"] moves over after stops at Champagnat Catholic and Archbishop Carroll. [player_tooltip player_id="1163365" first="Alex" last="Soto"] also joins the Panthers from Doral Academy.

Key players/roster:

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="814912" first="Jimel" last="Lane"]

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="546206" first="Anthony" last="Salazar"]

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1163365" first="Alex" last="Soto"]

2024 Ethan Louis

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="956773" first="Warner" last="Davis"]

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="709241" first="Cooper" last="Josefsberg"]

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1055700" first="Braylon" last="Burbridge"]

2025 Diogo Alves

2024 Josh Lipson

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="955605" first="Adam" last="Cohen"]

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1065492" first="Nick" last="Pineyro"]

2024 Randy Smith

The 6-foot-7 Lane could be the best senior in the area. He averaged 19.9 points and 5.7 rebounds while leading the Lions to a 21-3 record. Lane has size and length to be a factor on both ends. He’s an improved shooter to go along with his natural athleticism. Burbridge comes in with a quick handle and scoring ability off the dribble. I liked how he maintained himself as a freshman with Sagemont. Burbridge does not seem to be phased in high pressure-situations. 6-foot-1 guard [player_tooltip player_id="956773" first="Warner" last="Davis"] averaged 23.3 points per game as a junior. Davis can stretch the floor and provide instant offense with his 3-point shooting ability. He’s a kid that could drop 30 points on anyone.

6-foot combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="1065492" first="Nick" last="Pineyro"] averaged nearly 18 points per game. He’s quick and not afraid to attack you off the dribble. Overall, the Panthers have a nice group of scoring guards.

6-foot-5 [player_tooltip player_id="1163365" first="Alex" last="Soto"] is a scoring forward with mid-range and 3-point ability. I like Soto’s length and versatility in the halfcourt. With the Firebirds, he averaged just under four points per game. I expect a scoring increase from Soto this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="709241" first="Cooper" last="Josefsberg"] is a prospect to watch The 6-foot-3 guard could be the best shooter in the area. Josefsberg played well in fall league games and showed he is another offensive weapon.

Point guard Randy Smith is a newcomer from Atlanta. Smith had a great summer for Team Hardaway and should bring added depth. Smith is highly athletic and very strong. He should provide multiple looks for the Panthers.

Miami Palmetto has a lot of pieces to warrant a high ranking. They can beat you with multiple looks and have length at all positions. The Panthers should be right at the top with Lane leading the way.

For any South Florida Prep Hoops news or information...please contact Michael Costeines @Steins_23 on Instagram or follow him on Twitter @Mungertown_Mike23.
