The Team Arete Showcase was a blast to watch. So much talent, so much skill. Players laying it all out there putting their bodies on the line, and we haven’t even started the season officially yet. Loved seeing some of the best players in the state of Texas from all over go at it. Compiled is my All-Tournament First, Second and Third Teams. The players who stood above and beyond every game.

First Team

2023 RJ Chatman | PG | BBSS National | Sachse HS

The quick, explosive, high IQ lead guard showed why he is considered by many one of the best point guards in his class and according to our DFW all area rankings the best. Chatman attacked the basket, hit the mid-range jumper and knocked down deep three pointers for game.

2022 CJ Wilson | G | Southern Assault 3SSB | Prestonwood

Wilson may have been the best player in the gym. He displayed his ability to shoot and score at a high level. When you can go off for five to six straight three pointers in the flow of a fast-paced game you are different when it comes to shooting the basketball.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1205209" first="Eli" last="Valentino"] | G | Argyle HS

Valentino put up a fight for one of the top two or three players in the Team Arete Showcase. He finished at the basket strong, shot the ball well, distributed at a high level and showed off tremendous athleticism on the break with a monster dunk.

2022 Bryce Robinson | F | RTK Elite | Burleson HS

Robinson played with extreme force the whole day. He may need to be labeled the mid-range king the way he hits that shot consistently. He is a major factor and contributor to his team’s success.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1290352" first="Mitch" last="Williams"] | G | 3D Empire | Grapevine HS

To fill out the fifth spot on the All-Tournament First Team I decided to go with quite possibly the best shooter in the gym. There’s a lot of players on this list that have a lot to say about this, but Williams middle name should be SHOOTER!!!!!!!

Second Team

2022 Autavia Hobbs | PG | BMM | Naaman Forest

Hobbs is a great lead scoring guard. In the era of scoring guards, Hobbs is efficient at it. Many times, Hobbs took and put things into his own hands. Whether it was through the pick and roll or deep three. He played a solid well-rounded game.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1205159" first="Terrance" last="Ramirez"] | PG | 3D Empire | Grapevine HS

UTA commit Ramirez showed why he is D1 ready and able to run a team. Ramirez got his team out on the break early and often, finding his shooters in transition early and often.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="958560" first="Justin" last="Whitmore"] | F | Urban DFW | Naaman Forest

6’8 mobile, athletic with a jumper. What more can I say? Oh yes! I forgot he also defends at a high level.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="958565" first="Vinny" last="Sigona"] | PG | Prestonwood

Sigona played with one of the two maybe three best players in the Team Arete showcase and managed to still make sure he was recognized as one of the best players in the building. He facilitated and defended at a high level.

2022 Kenton Wright | G | Team Nation | RL Turner

A big guard and match up problem for smaller guards. Wright is pure skill and force on the perimeter

Third Team

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1295886" first="Aidan" last="Partee"] | G | Team Esby | Mckinney North HS

Partee used his energy and effort to dominate his competition. Loved how he stepped out on the perimeter and shot the occasional midrange jumper.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1151156" first="Raven" last="Ortiz"] | PG | ProSkills San Antonio | San Angelo HS

Knock down shooter, great leader and facilitator for San Angelo. Ortiz always shows poise and the ability to get his teammates involved as well as himself.

2022 Avery Brekke | F | Wylie HS

Loved how Brekke displayed power, force and grace all in one on the low block.

2022 Joseph Rowe | PG | TX Elite | San Angelo HS

Rowe made his presence known on both ends of the floor. Contributing to the scoring burst of a well-rounded team and the tenacious defense that created many turnovers.

2023 Josh Jackson | G | Braswell

Jackson had one of the most beautiful strokes from three-point land. Textbook form, Jackson was very efficient. Virtually ever shot he took went in. He definitely had one of those days shooting the ball at a high clip.
