Take your pick of three Newman Catholic standouts for this honor, but we'll go with the leading scorer and rebounder. Taylor is a long and athletic wing who can score in bunches, control the glass, and use his length to make an impact on the defensive end. The Knights are far and away the favorite in this division this year, and the Iowa baseball commit is a huge reason why.

First Team

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956891" first="Douglas" last="Taylor"], Newman Catholic: 17.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 steals, 48.2 FG%

The division's leading returning scorer, Taylor thrives on playing downhill and using his length and athleticism to get to the bucket for finishes. He can impact the game on both ends of the floor and he dominates the glass for Newman Catholic.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158510" first="James" last="Jennings"], Newman Catholic: 13.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.7 steals, 82.8 FT%

A competitive guard who does a bit of everything on the floor for the Knights, Jennings gets into the paint and gets to the free-throw line, where he converts at a high clip. He's a good passer and has excellent instincts on the defensive end.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956889" first="Max" last="Burt"], Newman Catholic: 8.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 2.4 steals, 56.8 FG%, 55.4 3P%, 82.1 FT%

Another Iowa baseball commit from Newman Catholic, Burt is an athletic lead guard who stuffs the stat sheet in every way for the Knights. He led the division in assists by nearly two per game, and he's an excellent shooter when he's left open as well.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962657" first="Angel" last="Jose"], Central Springs: 16.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 50.7 FG%, 39.5 3P%, 87.1 FT%

The Panthers won just three games last year, but Jose was a standout, leading the team in scoring and blocks, finishing second in rebounding, and putting up very solid 51-40-87 shooting splits at 6-5. The big man has worked hard to develop his game, and he's producing at a high level as a result.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962681" first="Nathan" last="Havel"], Osage: 12.0 points, 6.4 rebounds,1.3 assists, 1.7 steals

A 6-2 forward who defends at a high level, Havel is the Green Devils' leading returning scorer, and he led the team in rebounding last season. He plays with a high motor and impacts the game on both ends.
