Pre-Season WPIAL “Fantastic Five” Series – Class 3A

<p>In an effort to provide the most accurate and comprehensive information possible, Prep Hoops has surveyed all 134 WPIAL Head Coaches. In addition, we have received input from Assistant Coaches, Athletic Directors, and our network of scouts. The results are being featured over six weeks.  We continue this week with the top WPIAL players in Class 3A. Class 3A consists of 26 Teams, divided into 4 sections. Out of the nearly 300 (3A) players, here are our "Fantastic Five."</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1116023" first="Connor" last="Spratt"] I 6’1" I Seton-LaSalle I @connorspratt3</p> <ul> <li>Connor established himself as one of the top guards in the state, by averaging 20 points per game this spring, playing for the Adidas Wildcats program against elite national competition.</li> <li>He may have the best handle, regardless of class in the WPIAL</li> <li>Blows by defenders and finishes strong at the rim with either hand or finds open teammates </li> <li>Connor is an outstanding pure shooter, with a quick-release and range well beyond the arc</li> <li>Connor is now receiving interest from several D1 and D2 programs</li> </ul> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="991254" first="Will" last="Wagner"] I 6-1 I Charleroi</p> <ul> <li>Will was the leading scorer in WPIAL Class 3A last season, averaging more than 20 points per game, as a Junior last season</li> <li>Last season, he led the Cougars to their first playoff win since 1997</li> <li>Excellent shooter with the ability to get to the rim</li> <li>Will was named to the Observer-Reporter All-District First team last season</li> </ul> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="991233" first="Steve" last="Antuono"] Jr I 6’0" I Ellwood City I @AntuonoStevie</p> <ul> <li>Averaged 17.5 points as a Junior last season for the WPIAL Class 3A Champions</li> <li>Has accumulated 915 career points entering his Senior season</li> <li>Excellent all-around scorer: Outstanding shooter, who can get to the rim, coupled with a nice mid-range game</li> <li>Steve plays with nice pace and tempo</li> <li>Named to the Class 3A, All Section Team last season</li> </ul> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1187966" first="Joseph" last="Roth"] I 6-4 I Ellwood City I @josephroth51</p> <ul> <li>Helped Ellwood City to the 3A WPIAL Championship as a Freshman last season by averaging 18.1 points per game</li> <li>Joe was named to the Class 3A, All Section Team last season</li> <li>Joe has nice footwork and a soft touch in the paint</li> <li>Oustanding rebounder at both ends</li> <li>He is also an excellent swimmer.  He won the WPIAL Backstroke, in record time.</li> </ul> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1187942" first="Eli" last="Teslovich"] I 6’0" I Shady Side Academy I @baller4life5496</p> <ul> <li>Eli averaged 13.4 points per contest last season, one of the top-scoring Freshman in the WPIAL</li> <li>He has a nice handle and makes good decisions with the ball</li> <li>Named to the Class 3A, All Section Team last season</li> <li>Eli does a good job running the break or setting up his team in the half-cour</li> </ul> <p><strong>WPIAL Class 3A Pre-Season Player of the Year:  [player_tooltip player_id="1116023" first="Connor" last="Spratt"], Seton-LaSalle</strong></p> <p><strong>WPIAL Class 3A Payers to watch: </strong> Matt Marinchak (Ligonier Valley), Emmett Harris (Seton-LaSalle), Tayshawn Levy (Washington), [player_tooltip player_id="991248" first="Brandon" last="Patterson"] (Washington), Epps (South Allegheny), </p> <div> </div> <div> </div> <div> </div> <div> </div> <div> </div>
