The Hoops By Ugland Fall HS Showcase featured 20 games over the course of two days, hosted by Beckman and Servite high schools. The event featured some of Southern California’s top high school programs including: Santa Ana Mater Dei, Damien, Rancho Christian, Colony, St. Anthony, Fountain Valley, Eastvale Roosevelt, Gardena Serra, and more. In this piece we take a look at some of the top performers of the event.

Jaden Henley, Colony - Henley is one of the most under appreciated players in Southern California. At 6-feet-5, nearing 6-feet-6, the senior wing can do a little bit of everything on the court. From scoring above the rim in the half-court and transition settings, to breaking down a defender off the bounce and creating for teammates to knocking down a catch-and-shoot three-point shot, Henley has a well-rounded offensive package to go along with his long frame, quick and crafty ball handling and good pop in his legs.

[player_tooltip player_id="996387" first="Denzel" last="Hines"], Colony - Hines is another Colony player who continues to climb the rankings and notoriety ladders. The 6-foot-6 junior forward has a strong frame to go along with mobility and dexterity which makes him a multi-dimensional threat on the offensive end. Hines can score inside through or above contact, gets out and runs the floor in transition and is an active offensive and defensive rebounder. Hines showed some mid-post face-up game, finishing it off with a physical drive and finish.

[player_tooltip player_id="748756" first="Riyaan" last="Jiwani"], Pacifica Christian/OC - Jiwani is one of the best shooters in Southern California and he made sure to remind everyone of that. The 6-foot-1 guard, who is heading to NYU next season, has deep and consistent range and is a threat from multiple spots from behind the arc. Jiwani is a tough cover for most defenses because of how well he moves without the ball and the seemingly unlimited number of ways Pacifica Christian can get him open.

[player_tooltip player_id="994938" first="Amire" last="Jones"], Leuzinger - Jones dropped 20 points in a loss to Pacifica Christian and his confidence level seems to grow with each and every game. The 6-foot-2 junior has a scoring mindset and smooth perimeter shooting stroke which helps space the floor for driving lanes and cutters to break free. Jones spends the majority of his time on the court at the point guard spot and has upped his court vision, basketball IQ and passing acumen since we watched him in the spring and summer.
