Going into the season there is no clear favorite in the Eastern Dakota Conference. It going to be a wild year and nobody knows what will happen. I do know that the East has many great players. The EDC has excellent BIGS, lights-out shooters, super athletes, and skilled guards. Which four teams will make it to State? We will have to wait to find that one out. I know that I can not wait for the season to start. It is going to be a memorable year. Read below to see who made the Watchlist...

EDC TEAMS

Devils Lake Firebirds, Fargo Davies Eagles, Fargo North Spartans, Fargo South Bruins, Grand Forks Central Knights, Grand Forks Red River Roughriders, Shanley Deacons, Valley City Hi-Liners, Wahpeton Huskies, West Fargo Packers, West Fargo Sheyenne

Top Players in EDC

[player_tooltip player_id="1128188" first="Conner" last="Kraft"] - Shanley & [player_tooltip player_id="1144475" first="Jeremiah" last="Sem"] - Fargo North

EDC PLAYER WATCHLIST

(alphabetically ordered)

[player_tooltip player_id="1159546" first="Adam" last="Bitz"] (2022) |5-11 G| Valley City

He can hit consistently from 15-feet and from beyond the arc. Adam is an aggressive penetrator that will attack the defense. Bitz can be a tough on-ball defender and never backs down. He can be a thorn in the side of ballhandlers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1139277" first="Aiden" last="Jacobson"] (2023) |6-0 G| Valley City

He is a playmaker and a creator. Aiden plays with a ton of energy and effort. He works very hard on the defensive end. In AAU ball he was a gamer and a clutch performer. The Hi-Liners will hope he can do the same in the coming months.

[player_tooltip player_id="1161486" first="Alex" last="Proctor"] (2022) |6-2 G| Fargo Davies

He is one of the best athletes on this list. Proctor is bouncy and creative. Expect many acrobatic dunks from him this season. Proctor is great in transition and is a fun player to watch hoop. He can also drain the 3-ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046364" first="Ben" last="Heilman"] (2022) |6-0 G| Devils Lake

He is an athletic guard that attacks the basket and gets to the rim. Ben shoots the basketball very well. The Firebirds will be looking for Heilman to be a leader on both ends of the hardwood.

[player_tooltip player_id="1228094" first="Blake" last="Schafer"] (2022) |6-0 G| Wahpeton

Blake can score off the dribble by getting to the cup or with his nice mid-range jumper. The Huskies will be looking to Schafer as a leader and a scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id="812231" first="Brett" last="Limke"] (2022) |6-1 PG| West Fargo

He will be one of the best point guards in the EDC. Brett is a super accurate and consistent free-throw shooter. Limke can pull up on a dime from behind the arc and hit the shot as good as anyone.

[player_tooltip player_id="1181160" first="Calahan" last="Burchill"] (2023) |6-3 G| Valley City

He got his feet wet last year in the EDC and he will be ready to take the next step. Burchill is a studly athlete that can slash very effectively. For a guard, he contests and blocks many shots. Calahan is also a good rebounder and he can hit the 3-ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="812219" first="Carson" last="Hegerle"] (2022) |6-3 SG| West Fargo

He is a Division-1 level athlete. Carson has committed to playing football at NDSU. Hegerle is dynamic and electric. He is virtually impossible to stop in transition. Carson finishes above the rim and he is one of the most entertaining players in the East.

[player_tooltip player_id="1138812" first="Carter" last="Byron"] (2023) |6-6 C| Grand Forks Red River

He is a tough athletic forward with nice post moves. Carter is explosive in full-court transition. Look for Byron to be a stout defender on the block and an aggressive rebounder.

[player_tooltip player_id="1317328" first="Carter" last="Jaeger"] (2022) |6-0 G| Shanley

He had limited time in his junior season due to a back injury. Carter is a point guard and he could be the difference-maker in the Deacon offense. Jaeger has good ball skills and handles. Carter can shoot it from deep and he is not afraid to challenge big men in the paint. Jaeger has quick and pesky hands on defense. Shanley is a very intriguing team with the addition of Jaeger.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144600" first="Carter" last="Zeller"] (2024) |6-5 F| Fargo North

He is an ultra-physical and strong player. Carter will battle with anyone, it does not matter their size or if they are a senior. Zeller is a great rebounder and lane protector. His patience when he has the rock is amazing. His head fakes, shot fakes, and footwork is top-notch. He is the best young post in the EDC.

[player_tooltip player_id="1128188" first="Conner" last="Kraft"] (2023) |6-7 F| Shanley

He has a well-rounded and mature game. Conner can be a power forward that bangs down low or a stretch-4 and makes the 3-ball. Kraft is a versatile player whose offensive game is just starting to blossom. Conner will be a tough cover and a mismatch against most teams. Kraft’s future is very bright. As he continues to mature and add strength, Conner will be a scary basketball player.

[player_tooltip player_id="812221" first="Dominic" last="Dosmann"] (2022) |6-8 PF| West Fargo Sheyenne

He is a great defender and an excellent rebounder. You always know what you are going to get with Dosmann, he is very consistent. He can score on the block, hit the elbow jumper, and the 3-point shot is much improved. Dom has also become a slasher from the wing.

[player_tooltip player_id="1161534" first="Drew" last="Hofstad"] (2024) |5-11 G| Devils Lake

He is an athletic and fast-twitch backcourt player. Hofstad will lead Devils Lake with his lights-out shooting and his special passing ability. Look for Drew to be a big 3-point threat.

[player_tooltip player_id="1138774" first="Ethan" last="Manock"] (2023) |6-4 PF| Wahpeton

He is an explosive athlete that can finish above the rim. Ethan is no stranger to alley-oops, 2-handed slams, or put-back dunks. Manock is a game-changer at both ends of the court. Expect Ethan to be a walking double-double player this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id="1273987" first="Evan" last="Van Dam"] (2022) |6-6 F| Fargo Davies

The Eagles will need his size. Evan has improved quite a bit from last year and he is coming on strong. He is a hard worker with a nice mid-range game. Evan’s size will make him a rim protector and a solid rebounder.

[player_tooltip player_id="812229" first="Ian" last="Motschenbacher"] (2022) |6-1 G| Fargo Davies

He has committed to playing college ball at Northern State. Ian is a tough kid that plays hard. He has excellent footwork when finishing around the basket. Ian can make spectacular finishes in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046363" first="Jalen" last="May"] (2022) |6-3 SF| Fargo North

He is a versatile player that can go inside or outside. May is crafty and smart. I like his rebounding and timely passing. Jalen can stretch the defense and hit 3-pointers. On defense, he can match up inside and battle with bigger players.

[player_tooltip player_id="1317710" first="James" last="Hamilton"] (2024) |6-2 G| Fargo South

He is an up-and-comer for the Bruins. James does a great job of attacking and getting into the lane for good looks. Hamilton is a strong kid with loads of potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144475" first="Jeremiah" last="Sem"] (2024) |6-3 G| Fargo North

He is a Power 5 type athlete. The things he can do on the court at times are breathtaking. Sem can take over a game single-handedly. Jeremiah can shoot, slash, finish, and dunk in many ways. He is a special player.

[player_tooltip player_id="1133064" first="Kaleb" last="Larson"] (2022) |6-3 SG| West Fargo Sheyenne

This Mustang can really shoot it from beyond the arc. Kaleb will put up some points this season, especially from long range. Larson can spread the floor. His shooting will demand attention and it will help open the lane for others.

Kolby Jones (2022) |5-10 G| Fargo South

This senior will be a leader for the Bruins. Jones is a hard-nosed player that does the little things. He is a quick guard and a hard worker. South lost a good amount of talent, so Kolby will be asked to step up into an important role.

[player_tooltip player_id="812228" first="Luke" last="Loberg"] (2022) |6-4 F| Fargo North

He is a team-first player that will do anything to help his team. Expect Luke to be a double-double player this year with points and rebounds. He can score from all levels. The Spartans will need Loberg to be a tough and sturdy defender this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1169136" first="Mason" last="Klabo"] (2025) |6-0 G| Fargo Davies

He is a mature player for his young age. Mason can score in a variety of ways. Klabo is deadly from deep. He can cash in from 3-point land. Mason is a bright kid with a very high ceiling.

[player_tooltip player_id="1167651" first="Max" last="Froslie"] (2023) |6-7 F| Fargo Davies

He moves very well for his height. Max has a great finishing touch and a nice 3-point shot. He scores from inside and from beyond the arc. Froslie alters, challenges, and blocks shots on D. Froslie will be a key piece in any success that the Eagles have this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046354" first="Michael" last="Nhial"] (2022) |6-7 SF| West Fargo Sheyenne

He has very long arms and he is athletic. Michael is skilled like a guard and he has the size of a post. Nhial can score inside and outside. His length and hops make him a rim protector.

[player_tooltip player_id="812222" first="Paine" last="Parks"] (2022) |6-3 G/F| Grand Forks Red River

This big, strong, physical player has committed to UND for football. Parks has one of the best pull-up jumpers in the EDC. He is strong off the dribble to the iron. He can body up and finish through contact as well as stretching the court to hit the triple.

[player_tooltip player_id="1138811" first="Reis" last="Rowekamp"] (2023) |6-4 G/F| Grand Forks Red River

A long wing that can hit 3-pointers like they are going out of style. Reis also has a great pull-up jumper. His size allows him to get his shot off against smaller defenders. On top of that, Rowekamp is a top-notch on-ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1162304" first="Sam" last="Enget"] (2023) |6-1 G| Devils Lake

He is a strong guard and a great defensive player. Sam also gets the job done grabbing rebounds. Enget is an efficient finisher in the paint and around the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="1050247" first="Raymond" last="Brown"] (2023) |5-11 G| Fargo Davies

He might have the quickest feet of all the players on this list. Brown is a hustler and a grinder. I love his effort. Raymond has the handles and passing skills of a top-tier PG. He has the potential to be an elite on-ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1135484" first="Sam" last="Strandell"] (2022) |6-3 G| Grand Forks Central

He had a great football season and he should carry that confidence with him into the hoops season. Sam has committed to UND for football at the next level. Strandell is an all-around aggressive player. He averaged 9 ppg and 7.6 rpg last season as a starter. On offense, Strandell is a slasher and a creator. Sam works hard on the O-boards, which give the Knights extra possessions. Strandell is a strong and tough defender that will be counted on to lead the Knights all season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1123122" first="Tyler" last="Kraft"] (2022) |6’3 SG| Shanley

He is a big wing that can handle the rock with skill and hit the jump shot with consistency. Tyler’s shot from beyond the arc continues to get better every day. Kraft is tough to guard because he can drill the 3, pull up for a 15-footer, or finish at the rim. Tyler is also a strong defender. Kraft will be a major component to what Shanley does this season. The Kraft brothers will have a huge hand in the success that Shanley has this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1115649" first="Zach" last="Kraft"] (2023) |6’0 G| Grand Forks Red River

He is a lights-out 3-point shooter who has improved his shooting off the dribble. Zach is quick, cool, and skilled. I like his confidence and smarts. Kraft should have a huge junior season for the Roughriders.

[player_tooltip player_id="1133224" first="Zander" last="Newton"] (2022) |6-4 F| West Fargo Sheyenne

He will help the Mustangs on both ends of the floor. Zander is a well-rounded player that will do a little of everything for Sheyenne. He can hit the 3-ball, score around the basket, and D-up.

[player_tooltip player_id="1135490" first="Zunekia" last="McGill"] (2022) |6-0 G| Fargo South

He is a very nice athlete with quickness and speed. Diamond has a soft and accurate floater. He is a creative and crafty finisher. His effort on defense is outstanding. He is Mr. Hustle.
