Continue ReadingThe CBG Fall Series returned this past Sunday, October 10 for session two at U-Turn in Richmond and the atmosphere and competition level was fantastic. With 12 teams on two courts including 10 high school teams, two showcase teams, there was plenty of talent across the board and tons of coaches tuned in and in person there to recruit the talent.
Here’s a look at part two of some of the standouts in the 2022 class at session two. There will be one more session as well on October 24 at U-Turn.
If you’re interested in watching the replays, you can see the entire event on the CBG Live Network.
Dallas Kendall Dallas Kendall 6'7" | PF Menchville | 2022 State VA | 6’7” PF | Menchville
Kendall continues to show improvement and be more aggressive and productive going into his senior year, as he led a talented Menchville team in scoring and made plays on both ends. He’s very mobile for his size and has decent ball skills, he can step out and shoot it out to the three-point line and he was very active in the paint and made plays above the rim.
Kashawn Cordes Kashawn Cordes 6'4" | SF Hermitage | 2022 State VA | 6’4” WF | John Marshall
Cordes is a new addition to this JM team after transferring from Hermitage and he brings a lot to the table with his ability to do a little bit of everything. He’s very long and a good athlete that thrives when he’s able to get downhill, he can make plays defensively and guard multiple positions and he finds a lot of different ways to be productive on both ends.
Jaden Daughtry | 6’5” WF | Benedictine
Daughtry flirted with the idea of transferring to national powerhouse Arizona Compass before coming back last week and playing in the first session with the Assist showcase team, and he’s reenrolled at Benedictine where he started and while I’ve seen some very impressive performances from him, this past weekend may have been the best I’ve seen. In their heated win over John Marshall, Daughtry straight up took the game over scoring 28 points and going on a streak where he scored 17 straight in just under four minutes, he showed his ability to score it from multiple levels and his intensity and ability to take over a game is one of the reasons it baffles me he’s still available.
DeJuan Campbell DeJuan Campbell 6'1" | PG Kecoughtan | 2022 State VA | 6’1” PG | Kecoughtan
Campbell is a CBG legend after his play in the CBG Winter Series last year, and he continues to get it done on the platform as he was fantastic for KEocughtan in their win over LC Bird. The Western Carolina commit is as crafty as they come as he can change speeds and directions well, he’s strong and can finish at the rim through contact and he can really score it from 15 feet and in and make tough shots from that midrange area.
Kenny Page | 5’10” PG | Kecoughtan
Page has been a playmaker for Kecoughtan on both weekends, as the 5’10” guard is a super slippery and dynamic player off the bounce that can go get a bucket when his team needs him to. He’s shifty off the bounce and has a lightning quick first step, he has great length and uses his to finish around taller players and get deflections on the defensive end and he can fill it up in bunches when he gets it going.
Alphonzo Billups Alphonzo Billups 6'7" | SF Varina | 2022 State #154 Nation VA | 6’7” WF | Varina
The VCU commit has been a staple at the CBG events over the past two years and he never seems to disappoint as he continues to grow as a leader and as a player, and he was fantastic as both a facilitator and a scorer when he had to take over the games for them. The 6’7” wing continues to show improvement in his consistency from deep, he plays all over the court for his team and looks much more aggressive to score it down the stretch.
Christian Carden Christian Carden 6'4" | PF Varina | 2022 State VA | 6’5” F | Varina
Carden also continues to play well for a Varina team that is short handed missing multiple key guys that play football as well, and if he is able to play like that in the regular season they should be very tough to beat when it matters. Carden is a versatile forward who can play multiple positions, he produces across the board and is a mismatch nightmare and his unorthodox style of play makes him tough to guard.
