Earlier this week we published our Class of 2022 prospect rankings and by now you are familiar with the names who have remained at the top list for a year or more. Names like five-star recruits [player_tooltip player_id="991185" first="Dereck" last="Lively II"], [player_tooltip player_id="991192" first="Christopher" last="Moncrief"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1202039" first="Christian" last="Kirkland"].

So today we decided to review the Pennsylvania Class of 2022 rankings and reveal five players who used the summer 2021 grassroots period as well as September’s “fall ball” events to increase their recruiting stock significantly.

Below are five southeastern Pennsylvania stock risers you need to keep an eye on for the remainder of the fall and during the 2021-22 high school season.

113 to 20…[player_tooltip player_id="901951" first="Daniel" last="Skillings"] – 6’5” / Roman Catholic / Philly Pride National / Shooting Guard: In late June Skillings was simply unstoppable at the Philly HS Live runs. Then starting on July 3rd at the Battle for The Bell (DE) and running through the UAA Finals (IN) at the end of the month, he continued to advance his stock at a ridiculous pace. In short, Skillings assembled the most impressive summer of any 2022 prospect in the region. The long and athletic shooting guard is extremely smooth and appears to glide on the floor. He is a 3-level scoring machine who can get buckets from anywhere on the court. His ability to stop on a dime for a pull up jumper was especially impressive. Skillings is no slouch on the defensive end either. A rarity among offensive prospects of his elite caliber. After considering a wealth of DI offers, Skillings committed to Cincinnati.

75 to 57…[player_tooltip player_id="1116036" first="Daniel" last="Alcantara"] – 6’4’’ / Reading / Team Final Red / Shooting Guard: Alcantara is an elite scorer at all three levels who is patient and takes advantage of the opportunities that defenses give him. The majority of the elite prospects in Pennsylvania can score the ball, but what separates Alcantara from that already elite pack is that at the defensive end of the floor, he is an absolute menace. At Philly HS Live (Session II) this long, super athlete dominated games defensively via man-to-man ball pressure, by causing havoc in a zone trap scheme, blocking shots, and crashing the glass. Even on the grassroots circuit (where defense is optional), he gives maximum effort on defense and is a disruptive force.

NR to 84…[player_tooltip player_id="1279614" first="Earle" last="Greer Jr"] – 6’5” / Rocktop Academy / BW Elite / Combo Guard: The former Delaware County Christian (PA) standout (16 ppg. & 9 rpg. last season and was Bicentennial League MVP.) has been flying under the radar for several years. This past summer Greer hooked on with BW Elite and he absolutely balled out. His quality runs in July put him firmly on the recruiting grid. Greer is a long and bouncy prospect who can score at all 3-levels. However, he is an especially talented catch and shoot player. As a bonus, Greer moves very well without the rock. That combination makes him extremely difficult to guard. Occasionally, Greer will throw a pump fake and then put the ball on the deck to get to the mid-range or the all the way to the cup. At the recent Post & Pivots Team Camp event Greer ran with his new basketball powerhouse program (Rocktop Academy) and proved this summer was no fluke.

NR to 159…[player_tooltip player_id="1275992" first="Jaden" last="Workman"] – 6’0” / Pope John Paul / PSB Philly / Combo Guard: Workman is an exciting backcourt prospect who simply exploded onto the recruiting scene during the summer grassroots circuit. Workman has always been a talented player who contributed at PJP, but in July he proved that he is a capable of being a No. 1 / No. 2 option on offense. Workman is an effective scorer at all 3-levels. His 3-point stroke looked much improved during the July live period. His scoring acumen is complimented by elusive handles and the ability to move the ball to an open teammate. His high basketball IQ and solid court awareness enable Workman to operate as point guard at times. Workman is a prospect we will be keeping an eye on this fall/winter.

NR to 190…[player_tooltip player_id="1275983" first="Gavin" last="Shauder"] – 6’9” / Spring Ford / East Coast Power-Rap / Wing: Shauder burst onto the recruiting scene this past July after he more than hold his own in a mono-y-mono battle with nationally ranked forward [player_tooltip player_id="1119151" first="Isaiah" last="Miranda"] (RI Elite). We predict his stock will continue to rise this fall / winter. Shauder is a long and wiry athlete with capable hands who frequently catches defenders off guard with his quick twitch low post moves. Additionally, he owns a solid face up game which means he can score via his polished mid-range jump shot or use a couple of dribbles to score at the rim. As he continues to add muscle and gain more confidence in his skills, Shauder’s interior presence should have a major impact for Spring-Ford. Shauder is also comfortable handling the ball on the perimeter which makes him an effective big to pair with a shooter in DHO action.
