Since our last class rankings have been put out over the past six weeks, there has still been a good amount of transfers that have happened with guys coming in, leaving and transferring within the state as well.

We will do a series taking a look at the transfers since our last class rankings coming out.

We will start by taking a look at some of the top prospects transferring within Virginia.

[player_tooltip player_id="1107824" first="James" last="Patterson"] | 6’4” SF | Church Hill Academy ’22 (From Carmel School)

Patterson joins a Church Hill squad that has been on the up and up over the past few years, and he brings with him big time athleticism and a two way impact wing that brings it on both ends. He has a great frame and good strength, he can score it from deep when he’s open, he has great hands defensively and he attacks the rim and finishes well above it.

[player_tooltip player_id="1107854" first="Elijah" last="Easter"] | 6’0” PG | Independence ’22 (From Freedom - South Riding)

Easter moves to Independence from cross town rival Freedom and partnering with 2023 Wes Williams they will have one of the top backcourts in Loudoun County if not all of Northern VA. Easter is as skilled and savvy as any guard in the area as he commands the game well and makes everyone better, he’s fearless and tough on both ends and he can makes shots from multiple levels with consistency.

[player_tooltip player_id="999630" first="Robby" last="Matos"] | 5’9” PG | Blue Ridge ’23 (From VES)

Matos is coming off of a breakout sophomore campaign at VES and he transfers to Blue Ridge which has had tons of success with small and athletic guards, making it a perfect fit for Matos. He’s super dynamic off the bounce and very explosive when he gathers to finish, he can guard 94 feet and is a pest on the basketball and he thrives in an uptempo system.

[player_tooltip player_id="1231823" first="AJ" last="Wills"] | 5’10” PG | LC Bird ’23 (From LCA)

Wills is set for a breakout season as he transfers to LC Bird where their fast play style and abundance of options both on the perimeter and in the post makes it the perfect setting for a guard like Wills. He has great speed in the open floor and is very shifty off the bounce, he can make shots from deep consistently and he can make plays for others as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1241885" first="Adrian" last="Myers"] | 6’4” SF | Massanutten ’23 (From Sherando)

Myers moves from Sherando to Massanutten where he’ll play on the post grad team and have a chance to show his long term upside to division one coaches against top level competition. He has good size on the wing and is a big time athlete, he can play on or off the basketball and he can guard multiple positions and rebounds well on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id="1259626" first="David" last="Rochester"] | 6’6” WF | Bishop Ireton ’24 (From Bishop O’Connell)

There were quite a few transfers in the WCAC and the NOVA area this year, and this is a late one that could be a big time impact one for an Ireton squad on the rise. While Rochester is young he’s very versatile at his size as he can play on the perimeter and create shots for himself and others, he’s a good shooter and he plays with a great motor on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id="1259672" first="EJ" last="Joyner"] | 5’9” PG | Peninsula Catholic ’24 (From Menchville)

Joyner is the latest to transfer into a PC program that is on the rise and he’s one of the most talented young guards in the 757. The son of Hampton HC Buck Joyner, EJ is still small but he’s very dynamic off the bounce, he can score it in bunches and he’s an excellent tone setter on both ends. He already holds a number of division one offers despite being just a rising sophomore.
